Trading Myles Garrett was a big move for the Cleveland Browns to decide to make. Now, one outlet believes they could end up getting a trade request from another key player.
The Cleveland Browns will begin training camp in just a few days and with that, it'll be the first one without Myles Garrett around in about a decade.
Cleveland's decision to trade Garrett was a huge one for the franchise, and they're going to be a different team in 2026 as a result. The Browns have been adamant that they don't plan on having an entire fire sale.
One veteran who would surely be on the move for the Browns if they were to move more players would be CB Denzel Ward without a doubt.
Bleacher Report predicts Denzel Ward to request a trade
BR recently did an article where they predicted the next few players to ask for a trade around the NFL. Ward was amongst the players on the list and it's a move that could end up making sense for both sides. Ward has been clear he wants to be in Cleveland as a Northeast Ohio native, but it doesn't mean a trade couldn't happen.
“I could get traded, but I don’t look too much into that stuff. It’s the nature of the game. Say I do get traded, for me, wherever I’m at that’s where I’m supposed to be," Ward said this summer. "If I’m here, I’m supposed to be here. If I go to a different team, that’s where I’m supposed to be. But I love playing for the Cleveland Browns. I want to be here. I’m grateful wherever I’m at, whatever opportunity I get to go play football, that’s what I do.”
Ward is entering his ninth season with the Browns after being a top-5 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The former Ohio State Buckeyes star is a five-time Pro Bowler and has 18 interceptions in his career. 2025 was the first year that Ward did not record at least two interceptions, he made one.
Denzel Ward is likely to play 2026 with Browns
The Browns have Ward signed through the next two seasons on a deal paying him about $20 million a season, which is a good number for the player he still is. I feel the Browns are more likely to let him play out his contract in Cleveland, but a trade could eventually come to fruition between both sides.
Ward has had concussion issues in his career and is typically a player who misses a couple of games. Another concussion could leave Ward with a real decision to make on his playing future, and it could be part of why the Browns would trade him. If the Browns were able to get good draft value for Ward, then they'd probably think about it too.
As of right now, the Browns don't have another starting cornerback who can step up in Ward's spot opposite of Tyson Campbell. I think Cleveland fans should expect to see Ward on the roster for the 2026 season.
