Chadwick Boseman‘s brothers, Kevin and Derrick Boseman, have petitioned in Los Angeles Superior Court, asking a judge to remove the late actor’s widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, as administrator of his estate,

According to TMZ, the petition submitted on Friday, July 17, on behalf of their parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, alleged that Taylor had “never fully distributed” 50 percent of the estate owed to Boseman’s parents under the 2022 probate order. That order divided the estate evenly, with Taylor receiving half and Leroy and Carolyn splitting the remaining half, 25 percent each.

According to the petition, Taylor continued to “exercise complete control over his estate without input from Leroy and Carolyn.”

Kevin and Derrick alleged that the estate includes additional assets not previously disclosed to the court, including royalties, residual payments, image and intellectual property rights, a previously undisclosed CNB bank account and other personal property.

Taylor’s earlier accounting listed the estate’s total worth as $151,000 in cash, $241,000 in an IRA account and $3.3 million in stock tied to Chadwick Boseman, Inc.

The brothers asked the court to hold Taylor in contempt for failing to comply with the 2022 order and to compel her to provide a complete accounting of the estate within 30 days. They also requested that she be permanently removed as administrator.

Beyond the accounting dispute, the petition detailed specific financial obligations the brothers said Taylor had not met. It claimed she had not transferred a long-term care insurance policy to Carolyn, had not distributed funds from several of Chadwick’s bank accounts, had not paid out SAG-AFTRA residual payments earned after his death and had not collected or distributed unclaimed property belonging to him.

The filing argued that this left Leroy and Carolyn “without funds and insurance they are entitled to,” prevented them from pursuing business opportunities tied to Chadwick’s legacy and caused them emotional distress, while allowing Taylor to continue profiting solely from his name and image.

The petition also requested the court to bar Taylor from signing any major contracts involving the estate without the family’s approval going forward and to require her to hand over copies of all existing contracts related to the estate.

The brothers also added that she be made to cover the family’s legal costs associated with the filing.

Kevin and Derrick stated in the documents that they had made repeated attempts to resolve the matter with Taylor directly before turning to the court, alleging she was fully aware of the family’s concerns and had not addressed them.

Boseman’s estate has been the subject of legal proceedings since shortly after his death on August 28, 2020. He did not leave behind a will, meaning his estate was subject to California’s intestate succession laws.

Taylor filed to become administrator of the estate that October and a court granted her that role with limited authority soon after. Initial court filings estimated the estate’s value at about $938,500, though subsequent proceedings identified additional assets, including stock holdings and other property.

Chadwick and Taylor were first linked in 2015 after being spotted together in Los Angeles. While the couple kept their relationship largely out of the spotlight, they made occasional public appearances together at awards shows and premieres.

The pair quietly married in 2020 while Boseman was privately battling colon cancer.

Taylor has yet to comment on the filing.
