On July 17, 2026, late Marvel actor Chadwick Boseman's brothers filed a petition to have his widow removed as administrator of his estate. In documents obtained by TMZ, they allege that she has been mismanaging Boseman's estate.
Kevin and Derrick Boseman laid out many reasons in the court filing for why they believe Boseman's wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, should be removed. They are also asking that attorney Jason Rubin be appointed instead.
Boseman died on August 28, 2020, after battling colon cancer for several years. It was revealed that he had married Ledward six days before his death. However, since the Black Panther star died without a will, the courts eventually decided that his widow would control 50% of his estate, and his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, would control the other 50%.
Brothers Allege Mismanagement of Boseman's Estate
The Boseman brothers allege that Ledward never distributed the estate's assets to his parents, but has continued to control it herself. They claim that she still hasn't distributed money from his bank accounts, residual payments, or unclaimed property. They also say that there's a $40,000 long-term care insurance policy that also needs to be transferred to Carolyn. According to PEOPLE, it's all part of a "Final Order" issued by the court in 2022, demanding Ledward distribute the assets.
Ledward's "lack of transparency creates the appearance that she is concealing assets from Decedent’s family and from the Court," the petition alleges. It also says that they have asked Ledward many times to distribute the money to his parents. Now, they want her held in contempt and made to disclose the estate's more-than $3 million in assets within 30 days.
Boseman and Ledward's Relationship Timeline
Boseman and Ledward were first linked in 2015. In 2019, they got engaged after he proposed.
"We did a little staycation and we were sitting in front of the fireplace and I wanted to turn a movie on," she told Craig Melvin on the Today show. "And I’m feeling under the blanket for the remote and he was like, ‘Right here,’ and he puts the ring box in my hand, so I pull out my hand and I’m holding this ring box."
