In an age when specialization continues to creep deeper into high school sports, the multi-sport athlete is still worth celebrating.
The year-round club circuit, private training and pressure to focus on one sport have made it increasingly difficult for high school athletes to excel across multiple seasons. That makes the accomplishments of the Wichita area’s best multi-sport athletes even more impressive.
This list is not meant to start an argument over whether one athlete should be ranked a few spots higher than another. The rankings are subjective and the goal is less about debating the exact order and more about highlighting the rare athletes who managed to thrive across different sports, different seasons and different skill sets during the 2025-26 school year.
To compile the list, The Eagle conducted a deep dive into every sport across more than 90 Wichita-area high schools, ranging from 6A programs to 1A schools. The evaluation weighed state championships, all-state and all-league honors, state medals, individual dominance, team records, state tournament appearances and deep postseason runs.
There was also an emphasis on athletes who helped drive winning. A player who was one of the best athletes on multiple successful teams received extra credit, while individual-sport stars were also rewarded when their peak performance was impossible to ignore. The goal was to balance athletic excellence with versatility, giving a slight preference to athletes who were standouts in multiple true team sports, while still recognizing dominant performers in sports like track, wrestling, golf, tennis, swimming and cross country.
The result is a ranking of the top 50 multi-sport girls athletes in the Wichita area, followed by 100 more standouts to know - a celebration of 150 athletes who showed that specialization is not the only path to excellence in Kansas high school sports.
The 50 best Wichita-area girls multi-sport athletes
1. Dru Zeka, Wellington junior - Zeka swept four 4A track titles in the 400, 100 hurdles, high jump and long jump, while also earning all-state basketball honors for a 23-3 Wellington team that finished fourth in 4A. She also was a first team all-league volleyball player.
2. Arika Feldman, Little River senior - Feldman was a player-of-the-year-level force in volleyball and basketball, leading Little River to state championships in both sports. She helped the Redskins finish 44-2 in volleyball and 27-2 in basketball.
3. Ashley Lehman, Hesston senior - Lehman was one of the state’s most dominant track athletes, winning 3A titles in the 100, 200, 400 and pole vault. She also finished fourth in 3A cross country for Hesston’s state championship team.
4. Havana Olander, Little River senior - Olander was an all-state performer in volleyball and basketball on Little River’s two state championship teams, then added a 1A triple jump title in the spring. She also ran on state-medal relays for Little River.
5. Ava Claassen, Kapaun Mt. Carmel sophomore - Claassen won 5A titles in the 1600, 3200 and 3200 relay after finishing second in 5A cross country and helping Kapaun win the 5A cross country team title.
6. Cammi Unruh, Moundridge senior - Unruh was a first team all-state basketball player for Moundridge’s fourth-place 2A team and a second team all-state volleyball player for a 36-3 team. She also placed in four events at the 2A track meet, including third in the triple jump.
7. Allyson Orth, Bishop Carroll senior - Orth was a first team 5A all-state softball player and one of the top players on Carroll’s 5A championship team. She also earned first team GWAL and all-state recognition in volleyball.
8. Bella Bouddhara, Andover junior - Bouddhara was the AV-CTL Div. 2 player of the year and a first team 5A all-state basketball player for a 25-2 Andover team that finished third in 5A. She also earned second team all-league honors in volleyball.
9. Avery Brawner, Haven senior - Brawner was a first team all-state player in both basketball and softball, helping Haven finish third in 3A softball. She also added second team all-league honors in volleyball.
10. Lyndi Barton, Wellington senior - Barton was the AV-CTL Div. 4 player of the year and a first team all-state basketball player for Wellington’s 23-3 team that finished fourth in 4A. She also earned second team all-state volleyball honors and qualified for state track in the triple jump.
11. Lauren DeGroot, Bishop Carroll junior - DeGroot won the 5A 300 hurdles title, took third in the 100 hurdles and fifth in the long jump, while helping Carroll win the 5A track team title. She also was a first team GWAL volleyball player.
12. Amyah Werth, Hillsboro junior - Werth was a first team all-state volleyball player for Hillsboro’s third-place 2A team. She also earned all-state basketball recognition for an 18-5 team that reached a regional final.
13. Brittani Peschel, Mulvane sophomore - Peschel earned all-state basketball honors, first team all-state soccer honors and placed seventh in the 4A 400. She also ran on state-qualifying relays for Mulvane.
14. Avery McCorry, Bishop Carroll senior - McCorry was an all-state basketball player and first team 5A all-state soccer forward. She helped Carroll soccer go 16-2 and reach the 5A quarterfinals.
15. Karlie Demel, Derby senior - Demel was a first team 6A all-state softball player for a 28-1 Derby team that reached the state tournament. She also placed eighth in 6A doubles tennis and contributed to Derby’s fourth-place 6A basketball team.
16. Emily O’Brien, Remington senior - O’Brien was a first team 2A all-state basketball player for a 19-5 Remington team. She also finished second in the 300 hurdles and third in the 100 hurdles at state, while adding all-league volleyball honors.
17. Tylee Coleman, Wichita Trinity freshman - Coleman won 3A titles in cross country, the 1600 and the 3200 as a freshman. She helped Wichita Trinity finish second as a team in 3A cross country.
18. Lauryn Vogt, Hillsboro senior - Vogt won 5-1A swimming titles in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly, while also earning relay medals. She was also a second team all-state volleyball player for a Hillsboro team that finished third in 2A.
19. Reagan Neal, Bluestem sophomore - Neal won a 3-1A wrestling state title with a 41-4 record, then added state medals in cross country and track. She finished second in 2A cross country and placed in both the 1600 and 3200.
20. Nelly Puente, North senior - Puente won the 6A 1600 title and finished second in the 3200, giving North one of the state’s top distance runners. She also placed eighth in 6A cross country.
21. Liza Dugan, Bishop Carroll senior - Dugan was a first team 5A all-state soccer defender for a 16-2 Carroll team that reached the state quarterfinals. She also placed fourth in 5A doubles tennis.
22. Taylor Froese, Inman junior - Froese was a first team 2-1A all-state softball player for a 24-3 Inman team that reached state. She also earned all-state volleyball recognition, placed fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discus, and contributed in basketball.
23. Miya Respress, East freshman - Respress earned all-state basketball honors as a freshman for an East team that finished third in 6A. She also placed fourth in the 6A shot put and earned honorable mention all-league volleyball honors.
24. Abbey McNeal, Andale junior - McNeal was a first team 4A all-state volleyball player for Andale’s 36-1 state championship team. She also finished third in the javelin and qualified in the high jump at the 4A track meet.
25. Courtney Nye, Kapaun Mt. Carmel senior - Nye won a 5A wrestling title with a 39-2 record and helped Kapaun finish second as a team. She also ran on Kapaun’s 5A champion 3200 relay and fifth-place 1600 relay.
26. Reese Stuhlsatz, Garden Plain senior - Stuhlsatz was the CPL volleyball player of the year and a first team all-state selection, while also earning all-state basketball recognition. She added state track points in the 400 and relays.
27. Adelynne Strecker, Little River senior - Strecker was a first team all-state volleyball player and all-state basketball honoree on Little River’s two state championship teams. She also ran on state-medal relays in track.
28. Corbin Starkweather, Buhler junior - Starkweather won the 4A 3200 title, finished second in the 1600 and helped Buhler place second in the 3200 relay. She also finished third in 4A cross country for Buhler’s state championship team.
29. Brooke Doile, McPherson senior - Doile was the AV-CTL Div. 3 volleyball player of the year and a second team 4A all-state pick for a 35-7 McPherson team that reached state. She also earned all-state basketball recognition and contributed to McPherson’s state-qualifying softball team.
30. Makena Hampton, Clearwater junior - Hampton was a first team 4A all-state softball player for a 24-5 Clearwater team that reached the state quarterfinals. She also earned first team all-league and all-state honorable mention recognition in basketball.
31. Grace Prescott, Elyria Christian senior - Prescott was the AV-CTL Div. 3-4 soccer player of the year and a first team 4-1A all-state midfielder through McPherson’s co-op. She also earned all-state basketball recognition at Elyria Christian and competed in cross country.
32. Piper Schroeder, Halstead junior - Schroeder earned all-state basketball honors for a 27-1 Halstead team that finished third in 3A. She also ran on Halstead’s 3A champion 400 relay.
33. Zoe Davidson, Cedar Vale-Dexter junior - Davidson was a first team 2-1A all-state softball player for a 28-3 Cedar Vale-Dexter team that finished third at state. She also earned first team all-league honors in basketball and volleyball.
34. Jessa Losew, Buhler-Hutchinson Christian senior - Losew was a first team 1A2 all-state basketball player for Hutchinson Central Christian’s fourth-place team. After transferring to Buhler, she finished third in the 4A high jump.
35. Brodie Kuhn, McPherson senior - Kuhn was a first team 4-1A all-state soccer defender for a McPherson team that reached the state quarterfinals. She also finished third individually and helped McPherson place third as a team in 4A golf.
36. Madelyn Wallace, Andover senior - Wallace finished third in 5A cross country, then placed fourth in the 3200 and seventh in the 1600 at state track. She also qualified in the 800 and ran on a state-qualifying relay.
37. Lila Collins, Maize senior - Collins was a first team 6A all-state softball player for a Maize team that reached the state quarterfinals. She also qualified for the 6A state tennis tournament in doubles.
38. Dominique Schellenger, Wichita Trinity senior - Schellenger was a first team CPL softball pitcher and second team 3A all-state pick by SIK for a 24-5 Trinity team. She also earned all-state volleyball recognition for a 29-7 team that finished third in 3A.
39. Emmie Cooper, Campus senior - Cooper was a second team 6A all-state softball player for a Campus team that finished runner-up in 6A. She also earned second team AV-CTL Div. 1 basketball honors.
40. Rylie Whitfield, McPherson senior - Whitfield was an all-league player in volleyball, basketball and softball. She earned second team 4A all-state softball honors and helped McPherson reach state in both volleyball and softball.

45. Sadie Koester, Conway Springs senior - Koester finished second in 3-1A doubles tennis and helped Conway Springs place second as a team. She also earned all-state honorable mention in basketball for a 20-4 team and placed fifth in the 2A high jump.
46. Tori Morrison, Argonia senior - Morrison earned all-state basketball honors for a 22-3 Argonia team that reached the 1A2 quarterfinals. She also was a first team all-league volleyball player for a 36-1 team and qualified for state track in the 300 hurdles.
47. Emily Hein, Wichita Trinity-Circle senior - Hein finished second in 3A cross country for Wichita Trinity’s state runner-up team. After transferring to Circle, she placed third in the 4A 3200.
48. Kayleigh Vogl, Pretty Prairie junior - Vogl earned all-state basketball honors for a 23-4 Pretty Prairie team that finished fourth in 1A1. She also was a first team all-league volleyball player and placed seventh in the 1A triple jump.
49. Macie Hartman, Conway Springs senior - Hartman was the CPL basketball player of the year and an all-state pick for a 20-4 Conway Springs team. She also earned all-league honors in volleyball for a state-qualifying team and in softball.
50. Alex Scribner, Flinthills senior - Scribner was a first team 2-1A all-state softball player and one of the top athletes for a Flinthills team that reached the state tournament. She also earned first team all-league honors in basketball and volleyball, giving her a standout three-team-sport resume.
