The rising uncertainty over LeBron James’ impending free agency decision only leaves fans wondering where the 41-year-old veteran could be going next.
One such fan ran into Bronny James, the Lakers player who is also LeBron James’ son, on the street and asked him about his father’s impending free agency decision.
The fan first began the video with a question for the Lakers player about his motivational message to the youth in struggling times.
“Be you. Anytime you have some pressure or whatever, just be you. Always be you and you’re going to be alright,” Bronny responded.
Subsequently, the fan asked him if he thought his father was going to the Warriors.
“Man, I don’t know where he is going. But that’d be crazy if he did,”said Bronny.
There have been a lot of speculations that LeBron James is consulting his family before making his decision. Some reports even suggested that his daughter could be the key factor in deciding his future. But Bronny’s words clearly indicate that no one except James knows the truth or is being consulted for this decision.
But clearly, as a 21-year-old who has grown up watching Stephen Curry and his father battle it out in their primes, Bronny sounds excited by the idea of seeing those two legends on the same team. Especially after seeing glimpses of how dominating they can be together during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
However, there are major hurdles for LeBron James potentially joining the Warriors. For example, reports suggested that James wanted Golden State to trade for Anthony Davis so that they could be championship contenders as soon as these two join the Warriors.
But the Warriors’ front office does not want to take that risk with Davis without reassurance (which they haven’t received) from James. And yet, somehow, still reportedly feel confident that they can convince James to join them.
Moreover, after the recent reports suggested that LeBron James is likely headed to the Eastern Conference, NBA insider Anthony Slater also indicated that the Warriors are no longer working under the assumption that James will join them.
“Did you hear Rich Paul start that with saying ‘in the event’? The Warriors are pessimistic about that event. Really, since the beginning, they’ve not thought they’re at the top of the list. I talked to somebody last night who basically said they’ve been given no sign or hint that it’s gonna happen.”
“While we know LeBron has been difficult at times to contact directly in this process. Stephen Curry clearly has contacted him directly, and Draymond Green has been vacationing with him. So I would think that the Warriors would know by now if it’s leaning one way or the other.
“All of my indications from the Warriors side are that they believe it is not leaning towards them. They’re keeping a roster spot open and would love to have him, but they’re not planning for it,” Slater said in his recent appearance on ESPN’s NBA Today.
Therefore, as exciting as it would be for the rest of the league and young players to see LeBron James team up with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, all signs suggest it is highly unlikely that it happens.
