The Atlanta Braves are getting some outfield help ahead of their game against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday.
The Braves have activated outfielder Mike Yastrzemski from the injured list and released infielder Kyle Farmer.
Yastrzemski had been on the 10-day IL since July 11 with left elbow inflammation. Luckily, his stay on the shelf was short lived.
In 85 games this season, Yastrzemski is slashing .230/.321/.365 with a .686 OPS, six home runs and 28 RBI.
The return of Yastrzemski is even more important given superstar right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr. is still on the IL.
The good news is that Acuna is currently on a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers and should be back in the near future.
In the meantime, Yastrzemski will play right field until Acuna rejoins the big-league club. Once Acuna comes back, Yastrzemski will likely go back to being a key bench piece and part-time player.
That is because of the breakout season of super utility man Mauricio Dubon, who now plays left field on an everyday basis. When the versatile Dubon plays shortstop it should open the door for Yastrzemski to play some left field.
Acuna, who has strained his left hamstring twice this season, could also see time at DH in order to give maintenance to his lower body on certain days.

Despite being without Acuna since June 10, the Braves have a 58-41 record and hold a three game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East division.
The Braves went 9-14 in the month of June and are 9-7 in July. They're 18-21 since June 1 after getting off to a league-best start this season.
They will now get Yastrzemski back with Acuna not far behind him.
