Hollywood superstars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt is following her siblings' lead and leaving "Pitt" behind for good.
People reported on Tuesday, July 21, that the 18-year-old has filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court to legally change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. Her reason for the change is listed simply as "personal."
A hearing has been scheduled for November 2.

Vivienne's decision follows the same path her siblings Shiloh, Zahara and Maddox have already taken. Shiloh's petition was granted back in August 2024, not long after she filed shortly following her 18th birthday, as per a report in USA Today.
TMZ reported that Maddox filed his own request in May 2026, and Zahara's followed in June, with her hearing set for September 28 and Maddox's for September 14.
Even Vivienne's twin brother, Knox, appears to have quietly made the same shift, using "Knox Jolie" on his diploma after graduating from Fusion Academy weeks before turning 18, as per Page Six.
This isn't the first time Vivienne has stepped away from the Pitt surname publicly. Back in May 2024, she was credited simply as "Vivienne Jolie" in the Playbill for Broadway's "The Outsiders," a production she helped produce alongside her mother.
A Family Still Working Through a Painful Split
The wave of name changes comes years after Pitt and Jolie's highly publicized 2016 split, which ended more than eight years of legal proceedings before their divorce was finalized in December 2024.
Brad shared his first statement after the divorce was finalized but didn't seem to view it as a turning point. "No, I don't think it was that major of a thing," he told GQ in an interview in May 2025. He added, "Just something coming to fruition. Legally."
A source close to the situation told Page Six, "If Brad isn't close to the kids, it's because of the harm that was done. The children are now adults and make their own decisions, which deserve respect."
Even with the divorce behind them, Pitt and Jolie remain locked in a separate legal battle over Château Miraval, the French winery they once co-owned. Earlier this month, Jolie pushed back in court filings, arguing that Pitt had mischaracterized her position in an effort to obtain years of her financial records, TMZ reported in July.
What This Means for the Whole Jolie-Pitt Family
Jolie has spoken openly about giving her six children room to define themselves on their own terms. "We're supposed to help them figure out who they are," she told People in October 2021. "And you can't figure out who they are if you don't enthusiastically develop with them."
Both Brad and Angelina appear to have moved past the bitterness that once defined their split. Angelina hasn't publicly dated anyone since their 2016 breakup, while Brad has been in a relationship with jeweler Ines de Ramon since late 2022.
