Becky G honors her Jalisco roots by helping bring reliable water access to communities in Mexico

The singer’s limited edition Patrón bottle will help fund 200 rainwater harvesting systems for local communities

Becky G is giving back to the region that helped shape her family’s story.  

The multi-platinum singer and actress has teamed up with Patrón Tequila to launch the Our Rainwater Project Limited-Edition Patrón Silver Collection, a collaboration that helps fund rainwater harvesting systems in Jalisco, the state in Mexico from which her grandparents hail.

Designed by Becky G — who has a longstanding partnership with the tequila brand — the limited-edition release includes a collectible bottle and keepsake tin in shades of green and blue.

“I wanted this limited-edition bottle and tin to represent something deeper,” the Mexican-American artist (born Rebbeca Marie Gomez) says in a documentary-style video accompanying the Patrón release. “This bottle represents the power of rain and the people that carry our heritage forward, because every drop carries possibility, for Jalisco and the people who call it home.”

“This region gives so much to the world and yet for so many, access to reliable water is still uncertain,” she continues.

In the video, Becky G showcases how these sustainable rainwater harvesting systems can make a tangible difference in the daily lives of local families, aiming to spotlight the reality that access to clean, reliable water remains a challenge for many households throughout the region.

Through the initiative, Patrón will fund the installation of 200 rainwater harvesting systems in communities throughout Jalisco in partnership with the nonprofit Isla Urbana.

Jennifer White, the general director of the nonprofit, explains how it works: “We capture water that falls on the rooftop, filter that water and store it in a tank for the family to use throughout the year,” she says in the video.

With this Patrón partnership, Becky G continues her legacy of giving back. She previously worked with Cheetos in 2023 for their Deja Tu Huella campaign, which granted scholarships to community college students. She has also worked with the Save the Music Foundation.

“I feel really blessed that the more successful I’ve been in my career, the louder I feel my voice has grown in these spaces,” Becky G says about her advocacy.

“And I have seen sometimes the opposite happen for others because it can feel so intimidating sometimes and you can have fear about not saying the right thing. But in reality to me, it’s so small,” she continues. “It starts with us. It starts at home. And for me, this is home. And it starts within our four walls and taking care of our community.”

The Our Rainwater Limited-Edition Patrón Silver Collection is now available in limited quantities nationwide.
