A 28-year-old was hospitalized and could face charges after "accidentally" shooting himself in a beach parking lot, Pacifica police said Monday.
The shooting happened Sunday at about 6:32 p.m. in a Linda Mar Beach lot.
Once they arrived, Pacifica police and North County Fire Authority firefighters found the man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The man, who police said is formerly of Washington state, was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.
Police said he was alone in the vehicle, where they found a semi-automatic pistol and collected it as evidence.
Pacifica police Sgt. Brandon Smith said investigators are seeking charges against the man for carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle and failure to register an out-of-state firearm.
