A Baltimore daughter who inherited her late dad’s home claims she has been threatened with having her water cut off as she took on a $228,000 water bill she says belongs to her entire neighborhood, reports say.
Kristina Moore was left mystified when she spotted a note plastered on the front door of her childhood home in April warning her that her water could be switched off if the hefty debt wasn’t paid within 45 days, WBFF reported.
Moore has been footed with the bill as the 37-home neighborhood, which is part of the Springwood Estates Homeowners Association, has just one meter and it’s linked to her address.
This is despite the fact that homeowners calculate the amount of water they use, and pay their share to the HOA.

Then HOA officials uses that money to pay off bills issued by the Baltimore City Department of Public Works.
The bewildered resident sought answers from HOA officials and the DPW as she tried to rectify the issue.
“I actually thought initially that it wouldn’t be my responsibility to pay, so I contacted the HOA,” Moore said.
Moore turned to the DPW and was told she had to foot the bill.
“They’re telling me my property is responsible for this bill, and I can’t sell it until it’s paid in full, she claimed.
A payment plan has since been created – but Moore was reportedly told the notice would remain in place until the bill has been covered in full.
Moore’s residents have also been left baffled by the saga.
“It makes no sense,” one told WBFF.
“We should all have our own bills,” another told the outlet.
Meanwhile, Moore said she feels “let down” by how the saga has been handled.
“This is my childhood home. I work in the city, so I feel let down by the city. I think it’s sad.”
Officials at the Baltimore City Department of Public Works said it couldn’t talk about “a specific customer’s water account” unless it had prior authorization.
