Authorities are searching for a missing and endangered woman near Kaw City after she was reported missing Wednesday morning.
Kay County Sheriff Steve Kelley said Amanda Ingram Rogers was last seen around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday after telling her family she was going for a walk from her home in the Rocky Ridge Place area.
About an hour later, Rogers' family said they found her pickup on Rocky Ridge Road, south of Coleman Road, where investigators believe she continued on foot.
Rogers was last seen wearing a blue tie-dye shirt, red or pink shorts and flip-flop shoes, officials said.
Authorities said Rogers is considered endangered because of the extreme heat.
Sheriff Kelley said search crews are using multiple drones equipped with advanced technology, and investigators have located cell phones that are now being used to aid the search.
A search team from the Payne County Sheriff's Office is also en route to assist as multiple volunteers continue searching the heavily wooded area.
Anyone with information about Rogers' whereabouts is asked to call the Kay County Sheriff's Office at 580-362-3260 or 911.
