Zoom in: Georgia Department of Transportation crews will shut down two miles of I-285's northbound lanes between the South Atlanta Road/Smyrna and Atlanta Road overpass and southbound lanes from Paces Ferry Road to Atlanta Road.
🚴 Monroe Drive Safe Streets
Atlanta City Council member Alex Wan and City Hall officials break ground today on a long-awaited remake of Monroe Drive between 10th Street and Piedmont Circle near Ansley Mall.
State of play: The $18.4 million project calls for reducing the number of automobile lanes in some parts from four to three to make more space for bicyclists, scooters and pedestrians.
- Intersection improvements include signal timing and new lights.
- It's the second phase of the Monroe Drive Safe Streets project. City officials say construction is expected to last until 2030.
