'Assassin's Creed' Comes to Life in a Daring New World Record

Lilou Ruel recreates ‘Assassin’s Creed’s Leap of Faith with an 18.2-meter jump into hay, breaking a world record inspired by Black Flag Resynced.

Eleven days have passed since Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, the ground-up remake for next-generation consoles of the beloved Assassin’s Creed game that also stands as the fifteenth main installment in the series, and the hype couldn't be much higher. Not only have Metacritic reviews been impressive, with the game receiving an 84 Metascore and an 8.6 User Score, but the sales have also been through the roof. In just 24 hours, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced sold a whopping 2 million copies.

But the sales didn't slow from there, with 3 million sales being reported just a week later. Day-one DLC on Steam is reported to have made $1 million alone, marking the longest streak in the franchise. This success has led to Ubisoft reporting that a New Game Plus is on the way, which is said to "further enhance replayability." But the viral success of the game in its first 11 days of release isn't limited to the virtual world, with one of the franchise's most iconic mechanics coming to life in extraordinary fashion.

As you can see in the video below, professional freerunner, stuntwoman, and Red Bull athlete Lilou Ruel has just smashed a world record by jumping an eye-watering 18.2 meters into a huge stack of hay, recreating the belovedAssassin's Creed "Leap of Faith," widely recognized as one of the most famous animations in modern gaming history. As tall as a six-story building, and the same height as the iconic Brachiosaurusin the Jurassic Park franchise, this jump is enormously impressive, with Ruel saying on social media, "Thank you, Red Bull, for giving me wings for a few seconds. I do think we can go way higher, should we try?"
