Emotions boiled over after Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in Sunday's FIFA World Cup final, as there was a brief scuffle after the match.

Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni was seen trying to calm things down after his team's reign as World Cup champions officially came to an end.

Spain and Argentina played a hard-fought match that was scoreless through regulation and extra time until Ferran Torres found the back of the net in the 106th minute. Spain held on for the shutout to secure its second World Cup title in team history.

Argentina was forced to play at a disadvantage after Enzo Fernández received his second yellow card in the 93rd minute for a hard foul in the middle of the field. Legendary striker Lionel Messi was held in check in what could have been the final World Cup match of his iconic career. The team was hoping to join Italy and Brazil as the only teams to win back-to-back World Cup titles, but it couldn't get past a Spain squad that is on the run of a lifetime.

Spain's victory in Sunday's World Cup final extended its unbeaten streak to 38 straight matches, breaking a tie with Italy for the longest streak in soccer history. Spain hasn't lost an international match in regulation since March 2024, when it was upset by Colombia in an international friendly.

The post-match scuffle won't overshadow Spain's massive victory over Argentina to start its reign as World Cup champions.
