Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez is a unit.
Martínez is having himself quite the World Cup final against Spain. Ahead of extra time between the two sides, Martínez had a blistering 10 saves. Spain had 15 attempts in regulation, and Martínez saved 10 of them as he batted away strikes and fell on top of multiple soccer balls, stifling advances.

He added another save, his 11th, just three minutes into extra time. Martínez's 11 saves are the most in a World Cup final. The record for any other tournament game (16) belongs to USA's Tim Howard.
Martínez surrendered a late goal to Ferran Torres in the 106th minute, which put Spain up 1-0 in extra time.
Amazingly, Martínez is doing all of this with a broken finger on his right hand. He had a brief scare in the first half of extra time. His hand was hit in a dustup trying to prevent a goal from being scored. Martínez stayed down for several moments and was tended to before eventually getting up and continuing.

World Cup knockout round format
The World Cup becomes a single-elimination tournament once the knockout stage begins. The 32 remaining teams have been placed into a bracket, and the field will halve itself during each ensuing round of the tournament until a winner is crowned.
The lone exception is that the two semifinal losers will play in a third-place game ahead of the World Cup final.
