Apple TV as acquired the rights to adapt Rebecca Yarros' (Fourth Wing) new novel Peculiar Stars, and the book isn't even out yet. Apple still needs a writer for its version - Yarros will executive produce the screen adaptation through her Full Measures Productions banner.
We do know what Peculiar Stars will be about via its logline, which reads, "After a cyclone strands a young woman on a deserted island with a member of her fiancé's family, survival upends everything she thought she knew about love. But when they're finally rescued, and re-enter their world of privilege, expectation and secrets, homecoming proves far more dangerous than the island they left behind."
Peculiar Stars, the novel, is available for pre-order; it publishes in November.
Yarros' Fourth Wing has an adaptation in the works at Amazon's Prime Video. That one has been in development for years. Now greenlit, Amazon MGM Studios is producing along with Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society banner.
Apple is not hurting for high-profile projects. Ted Lasso will return soon, with Severance following sometime later. Its Pluribus and Widow's Bay have the most nominations for any series at the upcoming 2026 Emmy Awards.
Yarros' Empyrean romantasy books have already sold more than 30 million copies. The third book in the Empyrean series, Onyx Storm, is the fastest-selling book in the last 20 years. Fourth Wing is the title of the first book in the series.
More to come.
