This old-fashioned, simple apple cake will astonish you. It's super easy with a delicious streusel-like topping. This is the best kind of coffee cake on the planet, and the aroma of this cake baking is just fantastic!

Seriously, this cake is super delicious, moist, and the easiest cake with foolproof results! I love easy recipes made with all simple pantry ingredients.

If you're a coffee cake and apple lover, this is the best of both worlds in flavor and texture. The cake comes out great every time. Plus, you can add additions if you like. Apple Cake can be layered with nuts, raisins, craisins, or even the addition of coconut!

Why Make This Recipe?

  • Built-In Moisture: Fresh apple chunks release juices as they bake, keeping the crumb ultra-soft
  • Texture Contrast: You get a soft vanilla crumb paired with sticky, dense ribbons of cinnamon sugar
  • Easy Customization: It can be changed out with seasonal fruits you prefer

  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs

Filling:

  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons cold butter, sliced thin
  • 2 cups of tart apples ( peeled, cored, and diced), we prefer McIntosh
  • Optional: 1 cup of raisins, nuts, coconut, or caramel chips

How to Make Apple Cake Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 10-cup Bundt pan.
  2. Mix all the apple ingredients in a large bowl until smooth.
  3. Pour half the batter into the pan and sprinkle with half the apples and filling mixture.
  4. Add more batter than apples on top.
  5. Optional Topping: In a small bowl, blend the topping ingredients with a pastry blender or fork until it looks like lumpy sand, then sprinkle them on top.
  6. Note: the topping is optional; a glaze of icing or just dusting with powdered sugar can be an alternative after baking.
  7. Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes in a preheated oven of 350 degrees or until the middle comes clean with a toothpick.
