You can now run those Skyrim mods on your Android device

  • GameNative 1.1.1's pre-release adds Nexus Mods support, which includes managing mods, per-game profiles, and other toggles.
  • The update features support for up to four players and an improved controller editor with Xbox-style shoulder labels.
  • It adds GOG recommendations, Steam collection support, UI tweaks; pre-release available on GitHub.

If you've dabbled in the world of playing PC games on your Android device, it's likely you've heard of GameNative. The app offers a relatively straightforward and intuitive way to play PC games directly on your Android phone. In the 1.1.1 pre-release version of GameNative (the update isn't available in the Play Store yet), the team behind the project has included a number of bug fixes and other changes, but the one that caught my attention is Nexus Mods support.

Nexus Mods is one of the largest libraries of PC game mods out there, with mods for well over 4,000 games. GameNative adding support for this database means that you can now easily use Nexus mods with the app, including managing installed mods, per-game profiles, and enabling and disabling mods with a simple toggle.

In theory, you could now get Skyrim up and running on your Pixel 10, and then add mods like the Static Mesh Improvement Mod, which replaces low-detailed objects with higher-quality models, and the Relationship Dialogue Overhaul, which adds thousands of voiced lines to NPCs, and countless more.

Other new features added in this pre-release GameNative update include support for up to four players, a better controller layout editing screen, and Xbox gamepad-like labels for shoulder buttons.

There's also now a Good Old Gamer (GOG)-powered recommendations tab on the explore page, support for Steam collections, and more expressive UI elements. You can download the GameNative pre-release update on GitHub.
