A video has emerged of the moment controversial influencer and accused rapist Andrew Tate appears to try to pass his cellphone to a member of his entourage during his arrest in Florida.

The 39-year-old and his younger brother, Tristan, 38, were being cuffed by the US Marshals when Andrew Tate appears to try to hand his phone to his bodyguard, who drops it.

It is not clear whether US Marshals recovered Tate’s cellphone following the arrest in Miami on Saturday.

Andrew Tate was wearing a tight-fitting, unbuttoned mesh purple shirt, high-waisted, cropped black trousers and loafers without socks during his bust. The fit drew online comparisons to Hollywood actress Doris Day.

Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) also charged Andrew with seven new counts of rape, as well as charges relating to sex trafficking and indecent images of a child.

Tristan was hit with two new counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.

British-born Andrew Tate was already facing 10 charges, including three counts of rape, four of actual bodily harm, two of human trafficking and one of controlling prostitution for gain before his latest detention.

Tristan Tate was previously facing 11 charges, including three counts of rape, six of actual bodily harm and two counts of human trafficking.

The two brothers, who became notorious for advertising their hyper-misogynistic content to teenage boys and young men, now face a total of 59 charges between them related to seven alleged victims.

British authorities will now submit a formal application to US authorities to have the brothers extradited so they can stand trial in the UK.

The pair is expected to appear on Monday before a magistrate judge in Miami, where they are currently being held in federal detention.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will decide whether to order the extradition request.

The Tates, who hold joint American and British nationalities, can challenge that extradition request.

They had been living in Romania since 2016, where they are also facing a separate criminal investigation involving alleged rape, human trafficking, organized criminal activity, and money laundering.

After Romanian authorities insisted they couldn’t extradite the brothers to Britain until their own case was complete, UK prosecutors decided to target them when they learned they were flying to the US.

In February 2025, the Tates flew to Florida on a private jet after they were allowed to leave Romania when authorities lifted travel restrictions.

Romania’s Foreign Minister at the time said an official in the Trump administration had expressed interest in the Tates’ legal case in the country, although President Trump said he knew “nothing about” the case when asked if his administration had pressured the Romanian government to release them.

Their attorney claimed the arrest was a “political hit job,” blaming it on a “low-level functionary at the Department of Justice who never got approval from [Donald Trump’s] leadership.”

“We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free. America does not do Britain’s political dirty work,” attorney Joseph D. McBride said.

The Tate brothers have denied any wrongdoing relating to all the allegations in both the UK and Romania.

Andrew, a former professional kickboxer, has built up a following of more than 10 million on X, despite being banned from other social media platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, for violating hate speech guidelines.

He also runs an online academy where he claims to teach young men how to get rich and attract women.

How Mamdani’s minions failed New York in deadly Legionnaires’ outbreak

Last year, soon after a Legionnaires’ disease outbreak in Harlem infected 118 New Yorkers and claimed seven lives, the City Council took action. We voted to triple the frequency of required testing for Legionella in building cooling towers, increasing it from quarterly to monthly, because we believed that this city owes New Yorkers better protection. Less than a year later, another outbreak has swept through Manhattan’s densely populated Upper...

California beach dubbed one of nation’s dirtiest — with state’s highest bacteria levels

It has a real poo-nami. Those seeking fun in the sun might want to steer clear of Imperial Beach — the working class SoCal enclave was one of the most bacteria-ridden beaches in the US, per a study by the Surfrider Foundation. Imperial beach placed fourth nationally, with bacteria levels exceeding state health standards in 89% of samples collected over the last year. As of July 21, the stretch of sand remains closed to swimmers and bathers “due...

Los Angeles ticket scalpers jump on 'The Odyssey' hysteria to make fast cash

Los Angeles ticket scalpers are seeing more than a mythical journey in their future with Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.” They’re seeing dollar signs. Multiple IMAX 70MM tickets were seen by The California Post on resale marketplaces well above the normal price for theater tickets. Most of the listings were for the only AMC theater in the area showing IMAX 70MM — Universal CityWalk. One ticket package on eBay was priced at $1,299 for four...

Noncitizens voted in NJ, so naturally Mikie Sherrill condemns Donald Trump

Ouch: That thing that never happens, noncitizens voting in US elections, happened several hundred times in New Jersey these last few years — that we know of. Gov. Mike Sherrill announced Tuesday that a glitch had registered roughly 6,600 noncitizens to vote between June 2023 and June 2024, and that nearly 400 of them had indeed voted. That’s not quite the 35,000 Garden State noncitizen registered voters that President Donald Trump pointed to...
