“Becoming a mom is something I’ve dreamed about for a long time,” Toscano tells PEOPLE

Pia Toscano is pregnant!
The American Idol alum, 37, is pregnant and expecting her first baby with her husband, Carmen Educate, a rep for Toscano confirms to PEOPLE. The two are set to welcome a baby girl in December and share that they cannot wait to take this next step into parenthood.
“We found out we were pregnant on April 13th, which made the moment even more special because 13 has always been my angel number connected to my Grandpa Jay,” says Toscano, who was a contestant on season 10 of the singing reality show. “It felt like such a meaningful sign and made an already emotional moment feel even more personal.”
“It was truly one of the most emotional moments of my life. At first, it didn’t feel real, but with every milestone, it has started to sink in more and more,” she adds.
Toscano shares that telling their friends and family the happy news has been “incredibly special,” adding that there were “so many happy tears.”

“After such a long and meaningful journey to get here, being able to share this news with the people who have supported us along the way meant so much,” she says. “The very next day after finding out, I had to hop on a plane to Mexico City to do a tour with Andrea Bocelli, so I immediately went into work mode.”
Toscano says she had to put her emotions aside and focus on performing, even though she was carrying an incredible secret and processing such a life-changing moment. The musician is set to head back out on tour with Bocelli in September, so she’s already prioritizing her health and well-being.
“Overall, I’ve been incredibly grateful that the pregnancy has been pretty smooth,” says Toscano. “The first trimester came with a lot of fatigue, but thankfully I didn’t experience any nausea.”
“My husband has been amazing throughout this entire experience,” she says of Educate. “He’s the best cook, and he has made sure I’m well-fed, comfortable and always laughing. Having his support has made this journey even more special.”
The singer says she’s been mostly craving a mix of salty and sweet, sometimes even at the very same time.
“I remember pineapple with tortilla chips being a big one for me,” says Toscano. “Right now, I’m loving an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese, and my sweet tooth has definitely grown.”
Toscano and Educate, who tied the knot in November 2024 at The Hermitage Hotel in Nashville, have already started talking names and hope to find something that feels timeless and beautiful, while paying homage to their Italian roots.
“We have a few options narrowed down, but we feel like we won’t truly know until we meet her,” says Toscano. “We may have to wait until she’s here to know which name feels like it was meant for her.”
Looking ahead to the start of this next chapter, Toscano is feeling “incredibly grateful” to achieve a dream she’s long had.
“There was a season of waiting and hoping that shaped me in so many ways, and during that time I originally thought music would be the first thing I was bringing into the world,” she explains. “That experience became a huge part of the inspiration behind writing Redirected.”
“Receiving this miracle and blessing of news has made this next chapter feel even more meaningful and special. Becoming a mom will not only grow me as a person, but it will also give me so much more to write about and create from,” continues Toscano. “Becoming a mom is something I’ve dreamed about for a long time, and I don’t take a single moment of this experience for granted.”
The musician is already stepmom to Educate’s five kids from a previous relationship, and says they’ve taught her so much about love, patience and being a parent. She says welcoming her daughter feels like a “beautiful addition.”
“I know life is about to change in the best possible way, and while I’m sure there will be challenges, I’m so excited to embrace this next chapter, continue growing as a mom, and finally meet our little girl,” she shares. “I’m also looking forward to this new season of life inspiring new creativity, new music, and new ways to share our story.”
“It feels like such a meaningful transition, and I can’t wait to see how this chapter shapes the things we create and the memories we make together.”
