EDWARDSVILLE — An Alton teenager was charged July 20 with possession of a machine gun.
Donovin J. Moore, 18, of Alton, was charged July 20 with unlawful use of weapons — possession of a machine gun, a Class X felony; and aggravated unlawful possession of weapons, a Class 4 felony.
The Alton Police Department presented the case.
According to court documents, on July 18, Moore was allegedly found to be in possession of a Glock 19 with a “Glock switch” that made it an automatic weapon and was in possession of the weapon, which was loaded and accessible, without a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification Card.
Moore was ordered remanded to jail.
According to a petition to deny pretrial release filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office, Moore was a passenger in a vehicle that officers stopped.
When the vehicle was being inventoried before being towed, officers found the gun under the seat occupied by Moore.
This individual has only been charged and remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. All charges may not be reported.
