QUEENS, NY − Planes are passing above a sea of swaying phone flashlights. The stadium is filled with concertgoers wearing light-up wristbands, painting constellations across the stands. Standing on a B-stage nestled further into the crowd, Noah Kahan sings the lyrics "Where do we go when we die? I wouldn't mind right here," and a fan to my right whispers, "This is like the best night of my life."

The indie folk singer, whose viral hit "Stick Season" propelled him from rural New England into a best new artist Grammy nomination, is on a nationwide stadium tour following the release of his record "The Great Divide" in April.

Kahan brought "The Great Divide" tour to Citi Field July 19, performing to a sold-out crowd of 45,000 concertgoers. He played 25 songs, pulling across his discography with fan favorites like "Stick Season," deep cuts including "Pain is Cold Water" and surprise song "Strawberry Wine."

He took a moment during the set to apologize for the previous night's show weather-related cancellation after fans took to social media to express their disappointment.

"For the folks that stood out in the rain and traveled, I've been thinking about you guys and I'm really sorry," he said. "I've been touring for about nine years. I've probably played about 500 shows. I've canceled six in my life and they've only ever been when we can't do anything else."

Kahan said he's played almost every venue imaginable in New York, from 200-capacity bars to the iconic Madison Square Garden. He took advantage of the Mets' stadium's bigger stage with an elaborate set design, even singing "Dial Drunk" from inside a prop cop car. At the end of the night, fireworks lit up the sky as Kahan and his band took a final bow.

The stadium tour wraps Aug. 30 in Seattle. Upcoming tour stops includes major cities like Washington, D.C., Atlanta, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Denver, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle.

After wrapping up the North American leg, Kahan heads abroad for sold out runs in the United Kingdom, Australia and Europe, ending with his "Out of the Blue" music festival in Cancun, Mexico January 7-10.
