Alejandro Garnacho’s potential departure from Chelsea this summer marks the conclusion of his challenging time at Stamford Bridge. The Argentine international only joined the Blues last season from Manchester United, but it appears he is determined to leave the club this transfer window.
The 22-year-old made 43 appearances for Chelsea last season, netting on eight occasions across all competitions. These appearances were made under three different managers in the last campaign in what was a disjointed year for the club and the player.
Now, it appears that new manager Xabi Alonso will allow the winger to leave the club, as he does not appear to be part of the Spaniard’s plans. Now, as reported by The Athletic, Aston Villa are in ‘talks’ with Garnacho to make him part of their squad.
This would be the third Premier League club that the Argentina international has featured for if he were to make the move to the 2026 Europa League champions. It would be a fresh start for Garnacho to rediscover the form he found during his final two seasons at Manchester United.
The reason why Aston Villa would be interested in Alejandro Garnacho
Unai Emery has proven that he is a top-class manager and has helped bring on the careers of many in the Aston Villa squad. The Spaniard managed to revitalize Marcus Rashford’s career during the Englishman’s loan spell at the club, while the likes of John McGinn have excelled under his stewardship.
Now, one of the players he has made into a star, Morgan Rogers, is of interest to many Premier League rivals, with one of those clubs being Chelsea. This may be a move by the Blues to almost incentivize Villa to part with the England international by giving them a promising talent in Garnacho that Emery could mold into a fine talent.
Villa have been starved of recruits joining the club in the transfer window last season, and with a campaign back in the Champions League this year, it would make sense to bolster their ranks with quality individuals, and that would include Garnacho.
