Alabama CB Zabien Brown already has one Texas A&M matchup circled for obvious reason

When Alabama and Texas A&M square off in October, one of the most intriguing individual matchups could feature two players who already know each other's game better than most.

Alabama cornerback Zabien Brown and Texas A&M wide receiver Isaiah Horton are no strangers to one another. The two spent time as teammates, going head-to-head in practice last season, and understand the strengths and tendencies that make the other successful.

Now, they'll meet on opposite sides of the field with SEC stakes on the line. Brown understands exactly what awaits him, and he isn't running from the smoke — he's embracing it. 

The junior defensive back made that clear to reporters on Wednesday at SEC Media Days, welcoming the opportunity to face Horton in what is anticipated to be a primetime matchup for both Alabama and Texas A&M midway through the season.

“He’s a great player,” Brown said. “I know Zay. He knows me. I know how he plays; he knows how I play. I can’t wait for that matchup. It’s going to be a great night."

Hearing those remarks from a player of Brown's caliber should excite Crimson Tide fans — and anyone around college football who watches.

There's no animosity between the two former teammates. There's simply respect — and a desire to compete at the highest level. A game inside a game between two elite players with NFL aspirations, that could ultimately propel or ground both of their programs' College Football Playoff hopes.
