As we’ve previously learned, exfoliation — that is, the removal of dead skin cells from the skin’s surface — can help with acne breakouts, address fine lines and wrinkles and improve pigmentation. If you’re looking for an exfoliator to introduce to your skin care routine, we found one that reviewers are absolutely raving about. In fact, reviews for it are bonkers; one says that since using it, “my face feels like a dolphin,” while another says their skin hasn’t been this smooth “since the 4th grade.” Hyperbolic praise? Sure. But even the most skeptical of folks are saying this TikTok-viral product actually works for unclogging pores, getting rid of blackheads and smoothing the skin. And you can try it for yourself at 35% off, the lowest price it’s been all year!
Designed by K-Beauty brand Dr.Melaxin, people are shocked by what this Peel Shot has done for their blackheads, milia and more.
The positive reviews for this peel shot are endless, with so many folks saying it’s helped clear stubborn acne and blackheads, smooth out skin and give a wonderful post-treatment glow. It achieves this with a combination of AHA, BHA, and PHA agents to help the skin’s renewal cycle.
It doesn’t take many uses to see results, either. After cleansing, just rub it over your face and watch as your dead skin literally (and gently) peels off your face. One reviewer says that just after a single treatment, “not only did it clean my skin but the next day my forehead was literally glowing [because] it was so smooth.”
Reviewers also appreciate that it’s very gentle despite its power.
Skin care fanatics happily report that it applies with over-drying or irritating their skin. After use, reviewers note that it doesn’t leave the skin red, either, making it a solid formula for those who may be sensitive to new products.
“The formula feels powerful yet gentle — it really helps loosen up those deep, clogged pores without irritating my skin,” says one reviewer. “After each use, my face feels incredibly smooth, soft, and refreshed. I use it about three times a week before I shower, then wash my face immediately after, and my skin looks clearer and more even every time.”
Take note that even though Dr.Melaxin calls it a daily ampoule and skin care products perform best with consistency, we do not recommend using it every day.
Just remember: Less is more.
As Dr. Lindsey Zubritksy, a Mississippi-based board-certified dermatologist, previously told HuffPost, too much exfoliation can ruin your skin.
“While exfoliation is a great step to add to our skin care regimen, if done incorrectly, it can cause more harm than good,” she said. “The key to correctly exfoliating is to be gentle. Less is more when it comes to exfoliation. If you over-exfoliate, it can lead to a damaged and unhealthy skin barrier, which can cause dryness, irritation, redness, more acne or eczema breakouts, and even worsening of hyperpigmentation and wrinkles.”

“IT WORKS. If you’re wondering to get this… will it actually clean your pores like all of those other dermatology products claim to do??? YES. You will instantly notice as soon as you rub it in it will start to pull gunk out out of your skin. This is coming from someone with very oily skin. Not only does it instantly start to pull stuff out out of your skin. (And you will see and feel it) but when you wash it off, you will fill cleaner and notice your face feels a lot healthier, and clogged pore free. 100% recommend.” — Hayden Vickers
“I apologize for the video being me whispering, It was night time while testing this, and only filmed because I wanted to see it work from an outside perspective. I would see this on Pinterest and Youtube shorts constantly, claiming that it was amazing and got rid of black heads and pores.
I was super skeptical. I never trust influencers online because they’re paid to lie practically. I bit my tongue and bought the product because I have very bad blackheads on my face thanks to my dad. I prayed that this would help at least a little.
When I tried it, OH MY GOD. My face has never felt so smooth and clean. My nose (the worst part of my blackhead issue) was close to spotless after the first use. I haven’t seen my face this rid of blackheads since I was in elementary school. Watching the gunk come out of my pores was also satisfying because you never know how much is in there till you get it out.
I’m so happy with this purchase and I think more people that suffer from big pores and frequent blackheads should purchase this!” — Kit
“I have never used any product that impressed me as much as this one. I put it on my face and all the guck just clumped up and sloughed off. It was so satisfying. I wasn’t convinced that it wasn’t the product clumping up, so I did it a second time and got more guck (but less from the areas that I applied a greater amount to the first time. So I did it a third time and had hardly any guck. So I’m convinced it was guck from my face. My skin was so smooth it squeaked. Like the first time you use Nair on your upper lip and feel it and it feels so bare. It did not remove hair though. I know because all that guck kinda tangled in the peach fuzz of my cheeks and near my hair line and I had to use an exfoliator pad to get it off. Pores on my nose were much smaller after. Oddly, the pores to either side of my nose looked larger, but that’s because they were no longer filled with skin spackle. I think consistent use keeping them cleaned out will shrink them over time. Color me amazed.” — Lindsey

This snail mucin essence
This cult-loved Cosrx serum is powered by 96% snail mucin, an ingredient known to help hydrate, nourish, plump, and repair the skin. This version is oil-free for anyone who's acne-prone, but the brand also makes its Snail Radiance Dual Essence ($16) which is a little more rich for those with drier skin types. Both are also great at repairing a damaged skin barrier.
Promising review: "10/10 Recommend. Super moisturizing especially when combined with the COSRX snail mucin cream. Has a thinner consistency so can run a little but stays for a long time on skin. Makes my skin really soft and smooth with an added glow as well. Bottle is a decent size and is pretty durable." — Haylee
This rice water- and ceramide-rich serum
This serum is a personal favorite of mine for hydration during the winter because it features ingredients like redness-calming beta glucan, honey extract, seven types of rice extract, and arbutin to brighten dark spots. It has an elastic-type of consistency that feels really rich when you apply it, but it sinks into the skin beautifully and keeps my skin hydrated all day long.
Promising review: "Earlier this year, I had to start using benzoyl peroxide to get my acne under control, which made my oily skin red, irritated, and flaky. I needed something super hydrating and soothing to counteract it, landed on this serum, and I'm so glad I did. It's thick but not sticky, super hydrating, and calmed my skin right down. I'm using it 2x daily along with a peptide serum, very happy with the results. This has earned a permanent spot in my skincare routine." — Ulta customer

Promising review: "This toner is a must during the winter. It [has] a gel like texture and helps lock in the moisture. Not much of a smell so it's nice for sensitive skin and it also doesn't leave my face greasy. The bottle is a good size too." — Nora
