Two-time Oscar-winning Indian composer A.R. Rahman, best known in the U.S. for his work on Slumdog Millionaire, is launching ARR Immersive, an app for Apple Vision Pro, reimagining decades of his work in an immersive format. The app is available starting July 22 on the Apple App Store, and will be coming soon to Meta Quest.

ARR Immersive includes Rahman’s ongoing work in immersive formats, including “Le Musk,” a 360-degree virtual reality film that debuted at the Cannes XR Festival. ARR Immersive will mark the first time that content from that film has appeared on Apple Vision Pro; the footage is even being reworked specifically for the spatial format.

In addition to Rahman’s existing work, the launch will feature original content made exclusively for the release. This includes three Kathak dance performances, which merge Western orchestral scores with Indian classical dance, with performers Pranith AP, Palak Chauhan, and Mudra IV, as well as choreography by Shrita Baskar. The initial lineup also includes ARR Live, a dedicated section devoted to Rahman’s concert performances. More titles are being developed for future release.

“For me, music has always been more than something we hear; it is something we feel emotionally,” Rahman shared. “Technology now allows us to experience stories and music in ways that were unimaginable just a few years ago.”

“With the ARR Immersive App, we wanted to create a space where audiences don’t simply watch a performance or listen to a composition; they feel present within it,” Rahman continued. “This is about bringing together music, storytelling, and innovation to create experiences that are deeply personal, emotionally engaging, and truly immersive. I believe this is an exciting new canvas for creators, and this is only the beginning.”

Rahman was awarded the Academy of Achievement Award in Washington, D.C. last month, when he also joined Aamir Khan, Ashutosh Gowariker, and Javed Akhtar at Spotify’s first live recording of “Behind the Beats.” His work will be featured in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming mythological epic Ramayana, for which he is working alongside Hans Zimmer.

The ARR Immersive app will be available on the App Store for Apple Vision Pro starting Wednesday, July 22, with Meta Quest availability forthcoming.
