Amy’s Kitchen is recalling more than 180,000 cans of soup sold in more than 20 states and parts of Canada due to a defect that could increase the risk of spoilage.
In a statement to local news station NBC Bay Area, Amy’s Kitchen said the voluntary recall affects 15,530 cases of the company’s “Organic Lentil Soup - Light in Sodium.”
"The defect could cause the product to spoil, and the decision was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the quality and safety of our products," the company told the local outlet.

According to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration enforcement report posted on July 14, the recall was initiated on June 22.
Amy’s Kitchen did not immediately respond to USA TODAY’s request for comment on Wednesday, July 22.
Where was the recalled soup sold?
According to the same enforcement report from the FDA, the soup was sold in the following states:
Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Maine, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
The affected soups have a best-by date of April 2027 with the lot number: 60D0924.
From soup to glass
The ongoing soup recall comes days after the FDA posted another voluntary recall affecting more than 730,000 Pillbury rolls sold to Walmart because they could contain pieces of glass.
The recall posted on July 13 said General Mills, on June 19, recalled 3,800 cases of Pillsbury Bread Rolls Hard Roll Dough and 1,260 cases of Pillsbury Bread Rolls Kaiser Roll Dough. The rolls may contain "potential foreign material (glass)," the notice reads.
The dough – sold to Walmart, which makes the rolls to sell in its bakeries – was recalled from 19 states where it was distributed. Any baked rolls were removed from bakery shelves, according to General Mills.
