The Kentucky men’s basketball staff was busy sending out offers on Tuesday. We already covered six of the Wildcats’ new high school targets, but we learned of a seventh not long after.
Class of 2028 recruit Colton Hiller announced a scholarship from Kentucky through his Instagram account. Ranked No. 2 overall in his class by the Rivals Industry Ranking, the Coatesville (PA) product was playing up a year for the PSA Cardinals at the Nike Peach Jam last week, where UK coaches were doing plenty of scouting across multiple days.
KSR actually spoke with Hiller not long before he received his Kentucky offer. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard said he’s been hearing from Wildcat coaches since the contact period opened on June 15. UK first reached out to Hiller in April and has maintained that contact ever since.
“I had a FaceTime with Coach (Mark) Pope and an assistant (Cody Fueger). They’re definitely reaching out regularly,” Hiller told KSR last Wednesday. “They’re watching me during the live period, stuff like that. They love my game.”
Hiller is widely considered to be one of the top high school players in the country, regardless of class. And although he struggled at Peach Jam while battling through a shoulder injury, his track record speaks for itself. He was the Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year as a sophomore and won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2025 FIBA U16 AmeriCup.
His EYBL best session this year came in Kansas City, when he scored at least 24 points in all four games played. Across all 19 EYBL games this spring/summer, Hiller averaged 17.6 points and 3.9 rebounds on shooting splits of 44.1/36.0/60.7/
“In my mind, I feel like I’m the best player in the country,” Hiller said. “I feel like I still have more to prove, though. I’m always poised. Pretty consistent when it comes to scoring the basketball. I like to win, I play to win. I don’t really play for my personal stats. I feel like whoever helps the team win the most should be the highest in the country.”
Hiller is being heavily recruited by Duke. He announced an offer from Michigan earlier this week. The likes of North Carolina, UConn, Villanova, Kansas, BYU, Indiana, Alabama, Louisville, and plenty more have also offered him. So far, he’s only taken one unofficial visit, which was to Villanova. The plan is to take more visits during the upcoming 2026-27 season.
“I’m gonna try to go to some game day visits, like go watch,” Hiller said. “I’m big on watching the team I want to go to play, so definitely gonna try to get up and watch some games at a couple of schools.”
As of right now, Hiller says he does intend to reclass to 2027 and will remain in 2028.
