Year after year, the “The World’s 50 Best Bars” ranking honors the best bars in the world. This year, the organizers decided to create a list specifically for Europe for the first time. Find out which bars made it into the “Europe’s 50 Best Bars” ranking, which German city made the list, and see the entire Top 50 here.
In 2026, the creators of “50 Best” decided for the first time to honor the 50 best bars in Europe. The voting process is similar to that of the world’s best bars. Bar industry experts, such as bartenders, bar owners, journalists, or well-traveled cocktail enthusiasts from across Europe, vote for their favorite bars, as stated on the website. Europe was divided into eleven regions, with 300 experts per region allowed to vote. The decision is based solely on their personal opinion. One city managed to secure both the first and second places among the 50 best bars in Europe.
This City Holds the First and Second Places
The best bar in Europe according to “Europe’s 50 Best Bars” is located in Athens! “Line” is situated slightly outside the city center. The focus here is entirely on the combination of food and drinks. The menu is designed so that everything perfectly harmonizes. Additionally, many ingredients are made in-house. These include syrups, vinegars, breads, as well as fruit wines and beers.
And the second place also goes to Athens! The bar “The Bar in Front of the Bar” is the second best in all of Europe. According to “50 Best,” it came about rather by chance. Originally, it started as a pop-up bar to bridge the temporary closure of the original bar inside. It was so well received that there are now two concepts. Inside, you find a kind of upscale cocktail lounge. Outside, there is a small, daily changing cocktail menu. The drinks are mixed from surplus ingredients and by-products.
