New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. recently acknowledged that he feels he has "sucked all season."
That wasn't the case over the Yankees' past two games, both of which the Bronx Bombers won to improve to 56-44 on the campaign. Following New York's 8-5 home victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates (52-49) on Monday evening, Chisholm shared some encouraging words he heard from team captain Aaron Judge and other teammates amid the 28-year-old's struggles.

"Confidence … is the biggest tool I’ve got," Chisholm explained, per Bob Klapisch of NJ Advance Media. "They see me dragging a little bit lately, so they’re like, 'Bro, let’s not forget who you are. You’re the greatest in the world. You’re Jazz Chisholm.'"
Perhaps Judge and others need to keep working to build Chisholm's confidence until further notice. On Sunday night, Chisholm hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to propel the Yankees to a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Monday, he homered twice and recorded a total of five RBI.
A hot Jazz Chisholm Jr. could help the Yankees in one of two ways
Judge hasn't played since the end of May due to a stress fracture of the first rib on his right side, and there's no indication he will return to the big-league lineup anytime soon. Specifically, Klapisch wrote that Judge "is at least a month away from coming off the injured list."
As for Chisholm, he began Tuesday hitting just .228 for the season. Over his first 95 games of the campaign, he accumulated 16 home runs with 43 RBI.
"There’s still two and a half months [left] — there’s a lot that can happen in two and a half months, especially on a baseball field," Chisholm added. "So for me, I feel like it's more than enough time to just flip the whole season around."
The Yankees are expected to make "a major splash" ahead of the Aug. 3 MLB trade deadline. Having a hot Chisholm in the lineup would make the Yankees that much more of a threat for the upcoming postseason tournament. That said, it's possible that he could become a tradable piece over the next couple of weeks amid New York's need for multiple improvements.
