Fox’s The Five kicks off its 15th anniversary by celebrating a surprising new milestone as No. 1-rated cable news show — among Democrats

It’s not just right-wingers who are watching.

The Five on Fox News just celebrated its 15th anniversary and received a pretty nice gift: New data obtained by Mediaite on Tuesday showed the talk show is the most-watched daily news program among Democrats.

Per MRI Fusion data, The Five pulls in 765,000 Blue viewers each day — which means it’s getting more Dems to watch than the average total-day audience for CNN (202,000) and MS NOW (320,000) combined.

The Five is also the go-to cable news show for independents, with more than 1 million watching on average.

Those big slices of Dem and independent viewers make it easy to see why The Five has been the top-ranked cable news program over the last four years.

The show — led by co-hosts Dana Perino, Greg Gutfeld, and Jesse Watters and a rotating panel including liberal pundit Jessica Tarlov, ex-Democratic lawmaker Harold Ford Jr., and libertarian commentator Kennedy — scored its best year ever in 2025, averaging 4.1 million viewers. The good times — or more accurately, ratings — have continued to roll in 2026, with The Five closing Q2 as the most-watched cable news show.

It’s a long way from July 11, 2011, when the show kicked off as a summer replacement for Glenn Beck’s program, two weeks after he left the network. Strong ratings led to Fox News making the Roger Ailes-created show a full-time member of its lineup a few months later.

Two of its current co-hosts have been there since Episode Number One — Gutfeld and Perino. Gutfeld told The Los Angeles Times last year he believes the good rapport and banter between the stars is what keeps viewers coming back.

“On ‘The Five,’ of course, I needle Dana [Perino] and Jesse [Watters], they needle me, I go after Jessica [Tarlov], she makes fun of us all — we all do it, and I think that’s really the secret sauce to the success,” he said.
