The San Francisco 49ers may have been eliminated in the playoffs last year, but they at least got to take out the defending-champion Philadelphia Eagles before getting blown out by the Seattle Seahawks.
It’s always fun when the Niners are able to take out the Eagles and head coach Nick Sirianni, who is incredibly easy to dislike. He just threw some red meat in the water for 49ers fans with his recent remarks about ChatGPT.
Apparently, Sirianni sought the assistance of AI to help with motivating his players in the offseason. It certainly won’t help the perception that Sirianni isn’t the brightest coach in the NFL, and it will make for easy fodder if the Eagles come up short of expectations again next season.
Niners fans were already quick to pile on.
It will be interesting to see how Philly fares this upcoming season. The Eagles, along with the 49ers, have been one of the premier teams in the NFC this decade, so they are always a team to watch out for.
Their offense was simply putrid last season, which is why San Francisco was able to limit them pretty well in that Wild Card matchup, even though the Niners were dealing with countless injuries on defense and really had no business winning that game with how banged up they were.
A.J. Brown is gone, so the Eagles offense is going to look a little different, and they got rid of their offensive coordinator, whom many blamed for Philly's struggles last season. Former NFL quarterback Sean Mannion will take over play-calling duties, and it’s notable he stems from the Kyle Shanahan-Sean McVay coaching tree as he came from the Green Bay Packers under Matt LaFleur.
Of course, if Mannion doesn’t work out, maybe Sirianni has ChatGPT downloaded on his Microsoft Surface tablet and can ask it what plays to dial up.
All jokes aside, it will be interesting to see how AI is utilized by teams going forward. General manager John Lynch already talked about how the organization was using AI ahead of the NFL Draft, and it seems inevitable it will become more and more a part of how teams make decisions.
The Niners will get to face Philadelphia in Week 17 at Levi’s Stadium, so Sirianni can put his AI to the test and maybe he can even ask it, “How can we utilize Big Dom to get Dre Greenlaw thrown out of the game again?”
