As we get closer and closer to training camp, three Cleveland Browns questions continue to linger on both offense and defense.
It’s about time we outline them and discuss how they could sort themselves out during camp.
What’s the plan at linebacker for 2026?
This has been one of the more overlooked storylines of the offseason, but it’s also one of the biggest mysteries right now. What is Cleveland planning to do if one of Carson Schwesinger or Quincy Williams gets hurt? Who is going to be the third linebacker when the team isn’t in a nickel defense? How does new DC Mike Rutenberg feel about rookie Justin Jefferson?
Countless questions surround the team’s current linebacker room, and they’ll absolutely have to be addressed in training camp and throughout the preseason. Schwesinger and Williams form a top-notch duo, but behind them are guys like Winston Reid, Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, Nathaniel Watson, and rookie 5th-rounder Justin Jefferson.
It’s pretty safe to say that those names aren’t very exciting, and it feels like one more legitimate veteran should’ve been added this offseason.
How will the starting offensive line shake out?
Heading into training camp season, all Cleveland fans know is that the team added Zion Johnson, Elgton Jenkins, and Tytus Howard in free agency, re-signed Teven Jenkins, and drafted Spencer Fano, Austin Barber, and Parker Brailsford. What everyone doesn’t know is where they’ll end up playing in 2026 and beyond.
As of right now, it’s logical to think that the starting five would be:
LT – Spencer Fano
LG – Teven Jenkins
C – Elgton Jenkins
RG – Zion Johnson
RT – Tytus Howard
This is at least what the perception was when everyone was first signed, but it’s been sounding like Todd Monken and the rest of the offensive staff could want it to look like this:
LT – Spencer Fano
LG – Elgton Jenkins
C – Parker Brailsford
RG – Zion Johnson
RT – Tytus Howard
Honestly, this feels like a much better lineup, with Elgton Jenkins being used in his natural position. Whatever the case, it’s going to be extremely interesting to see how the offensive line evolves throughout training camp.
What will the wide receiver rotation look like?
This is probably the biggest question mark heading into camp, as it’s been one of the team’s biggest problems over the past couple of seasons. Andrew Berry and Co. did a great job this offseason of attacking the wide receiver position in the NFL draft with K.C. Concepcion and Denzel Boston being taken in rounds one and two, and adding an underrated talent in Tylan Wallace via free agency.
On paper, things look a lot better than they did in 2025, with the depth chart probably looking like this:
X – Denzel Boston, Cedric Tillman
Z – Jerry Jeudy, Tylan Wallace
SLOT – K.C. Concepcion, Isaiah Bond
Though the team will likely only keep six receivers heading into week one, it wouldn’t be surprising to see someone like Malachi Corley make his way onto the roster. He looked really good over the last 4-5 games of the 2025 season, and he ended up being the Browns’ go-to option on their quick-hitting inside sweep play.
