1."That safety rules are written in blood."
"Several accidents must occur before a decision is made to build an underground or above-ground passage."
2."The fact that dust in your house contains dead skin and dust mites always gets to me now."
"This is what motivates me to clean top to bottom one room every other 3 days. I can't stand seeing the dust because it grosses me TF out."
3."If the sun disappears, it would take 8 minutes and 20 seconds for the light to disappear."
"Gravity also functions at the speed of light. If the sun did vanish, not only would it take 8 minutes for light to stop hitting the earth, but it would also take 8 minutes for the earth to be free from the sun's gravitational pull."

"The Nutty Putty Cave story is so so bad."
5."That basically every surface humans have had contact with has had feces on it."
6."Giraffes are ruminants...They have a six-foot neck through which food has to go up and down four times for additional rechewing..."
7."Hookworms burrow under your skin, enter the bloodstream, travel to the lungs, you then cough them up and swallow them, and finally they make it to their home in your intestines. Luckily assuming you have clean water and sewage is disposed of correctly, you basically have a very low chance of contracting them."
8."That a percentage of the population has like, no internal monologue."
9."Your brain fits in your hand."
10."The most horrifying fact I know (in my opinion), is that during WW2, near the end before Japan surrendered — Japan were exploring plans to unleash the BUBONIC PLAGUE on California (more specifically San Francisco and Los Angeles). If they succeeded, it would've likely caused mass hysteria in California and likely nationwide. On top of this, despite this plan and the atrocities committed by Unit 731, many Japanese scientists who worked on it were given immunity in exchange of giving their research over to the US."
11."I read somewhere that human flesh supposedly tastes just like pork. Whether this is true or not, the fact alone unsettled me so profoundly that I haven't touched it ever since. It sucks because I'm Korean and a lot of our beloved cuisine consists of pork.😭"
12."Animal eyes reflect light in the dark, but human eyes don't."
13.“When an animal dies at a zoo, some facilities may repurpose the remains as food for the carnivores they care for.”
14."We're either alone in the universe or we're not alone."
"The vastness of it all freaks me out too."
15."People who have a crack in their toilet, whether they know it and think 'no big deal' or they just don't notice — can end up killed or with HORRIFIC injuries from the toilet shattering beneath them. Broken porcelain is super sharp. It cuts you bad and it cuts you deep. So just imagine having your toilet bowl collapse under you and you proceed downward onto that. You can Google it, but I DO NOT recommend."

17."Little toes can fall off. It can take months and it's painful."
18."That for a nurse or doctor, a mistake that could end your life could go completely undetected. They would never face a single repercussion or think twice if they didn't notice. Not medical malpractice, but medical error."
19."That there is a ****** called "feederism" where people get off on making their partner gain weight."
20."I always think about that couple who were diving with a boatload of people but were forgotten. They were left in the open ocean with sharks. All 'they' found was a 'whiteboard' with a message. They even made a movie about this. I'm never going on a boat."
"Not sure if this makes it better or worse, but this is a fairly common type of diving accident. The boat leaving the folks behind is unusual, but divers getting caught in a current or otherwise losing their boat is not.
So on one hand, super scary, on the other hand, it’s recommended that deep sea divers carry equipment (surface markers, noise makers, flares, etc.) for such a possibility."
21."The fact that severe allergic reactions can start later in life makes me scared to eat anything. I became severely allergic to tree nuts at 28. It happened at work after eating some mixed nuts and I went into anaphylactic shock. I didn't have another episode for years since I've avoided them, until I had an IPA beer. I had my EpiPen but it didn't work, so needed to go to the ER."
22."That your brain can convince you that there's no way things will ever get better, even when it's completely wrong. People's perception during severe depression can become so distorted that they genuinely believe they're a burden or that nothing will ever change — yet many who survive those periods later say they're grateful they stayed alive. It's terrifying how convincing your own mind can be."

23."The Epstein Files opened the rabbit hole to knowing details of the worst of humanity. It's unbelievable how horrible humans can be to eachother, especially when they have unchecked power. It's terrifying that we're living amongst people with no souls."
"Yeah, I think most of us have long suspected that there is A LOT of pretty gross and awful **** going on in this world behind the closed golden doors of wealth and power.
But ****, to have even just a glimpse of it with confirmation is so upsetting. Suspecting is one thing, knowing for sure hits different."
24."What is done to the human body during embalming. There are things put under your eyelids to keep your eyes closed and sometimes things shoved up your bum to keep you from leaking. NO FREAKING THANK YOU! I know it will be done to me when I die most likely, but I'd so much rather be put in a simple linen shroud and buried without a casket so I can return to nature."
25."The story behind the song 'Dancing in the Moonlight'."
26."Brain aneurysms. You could be in your twenties, feeling perfectly healthy, eating right, and just have a random, undetected weak spot in a blood vessel in your brain decide to pop. Lights out, no warning, nothing you could have done to prevent it."
...And that is enough internet for today. I don't know about you, but I feel like I need to go scrub my brain with soap, look at photos of baby animals for several hours, and pretend like I never learned a single one of these.
