2 Men Arrested, 1 Person Stabbed During Fight Over Parking Space In RivCo

Two people were injured during the altercation and treated at a hospital, police said.

INDIO, CA — Two men have been arrested after a fight with two other people over a parking space in Indio, police said.

Officers responded to a report of an altercation just before 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Mountain View Cottages located at 46299 Arabia Street, according to the Indio Police Department.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the altercation began over a parking space. During the confrontation, Utria allegedly stabbed one person, identified only as a 33-year-old man, while Hernandez allegedly struck another person on the head with a beer bottle, police said.

Both injured individuals were treated at a hospital for non-life- threatening injuries, police said.

Carlos Adolfo Chourio Utria, 19, and Juan Daniel Sanchez Hernandez, 34, were booked into Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Indio Police Department.

Bail information was not immediately available.

Police said the investigation was ongoing.
