A south Alabama man is under arrest after a search warrant turned one of the largest drug seizures in Butler County in recent memory.
The Greenville Police Department’s Special Response Team carried out a search warrant Monday at a home on Sherling Lake Road.
The search turned up 18 pounds of marijuana 4.1 ounces of crack cocaine, 18 pills of a controlled substance, one gun and more than $70,000 in cash.
The raid resulted from a months-long investigation led by Lt. Chad Herring of the police department’s drug task force.
Dannie McCall, 30, is charged with three counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, two counts of drug trafficking and one count of possession of a control substance.
The chief applauded the work of investigators on the case.
“This operation successfully removed a substantial quantity of harmful substances and illicit funds from circulation within the community, significantly enhancing public safety in the city,” Lovvorn said.
