The Chinese videogame developer and publishing company Kuro Games, known for its hit titles like Wuthering Waves and Punishing Gray Raven, revealed a new animation studio brand, 'Kuro Onraod,' under the Kuro Games umbrella, with a massive project already underway, a Wuthering Waves anime series titled ‘Elysium.'
The studio, along with the Wuthering Waves: Elysium anime, was revealed on Saturday, July 18, with the following announcement:
The launch marks a new chapter for Kuro Games as it expands the Wuthering Waves universe beyond the game and offers fans another way to experience its characters, stories, and world through animation.
Along with the announcement, we also got a 53-second trailer featuring Yangyang, Cartethiya, and others, as well as a new face, likely the main MC of the anime series.
Wuthering Waves has been one of the top free-to-play gacha games, excelling in every aspect of quality. And it is considered a direct contender to Hoyoverse's Genshin Impact.
Hoyoverse announced an anime series for Genshin Impact in collaboration with ufotable back in 2022, with a brief reveal and nothing since. A few months back, we got new updates on the Genshin Impact anime along with a new announcement of a Honkai Star Rail anime.
This further shows how game developers are actively looking to different mediums to share the story of the world they have built while unlocking new streams of revenue and diversifying their IPs.
