Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in County Waterford.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to reports that a woman had been stabbed in a Church in Summerhill, Tramore, this morning at around 9.45 am.
A woman in her 50s was taken to Waterford University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Gardaí arrested a man, aged in his 30s, at a property nearby, and he is currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act in a Garda Station in County Waterford.
Gardaí seized a knife which will be technically examined, and the scene has been sealed off for forensic examination.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of Summerhill, Tramore between 9.15 am and 10.15 am this morning (Tuesday, July 21) and who may have camera footage, including dashcam, to make this footage available to Gardaí.
