DeWalt products run the gamut, providing solutions for the professional trades and DIYers alike. With even more exciting products coming from DeWalt in the future, consumers will be looking for the best deals, and for many, that will include checking the prices on Amazon. You should think twice before buying the cheapest DeWalt products you find on the platform, however.
DeWalt's Shop Safe web page tells its customers to be wary of online deals "offering DeWalt products at prices that are too good to be true," as they could be scams. It would be reasonable to assume Amazon is a safe place to buy from because it is listed as a DeWalt Authorized Retailer; if you select the Amazon link from that list, it will take you directly to DeWalt's official Amazon storefront.
However, when it comes to DeWalt products sold on Amazon, not every listing is made equal, and buying from the wrong seller could cause you problems down the line, particularly if you need to submit a warranty claim.

DeWalt's warranty is limited to authorized sellers
Put simply, if you purchase a DeWalt product on Amazon from the official DeWalt storefront — or from a different authorized seller using the platform — then you don't have to worry. However, Amazon allows nearly anyone to offer products on its platform as a third-party seller, which means that if you search it for a DeWalt product, you could end up with listings from unauthorized sellers.
Not every third-party seller on Amazon is trying to scam people, though some may offer refurbished or used products at steep discounts without disclosing that they were previously owned. Regardless of whether you get a new or used product from an unauthorized seller, you will not be able to submit a warranty claim to get it repaired or replaced if something goes wrong. The tool company explains in its warranty:
"Because DeWalt cannot control the quality of products sold by unauthorized sellers, this warranty applies only if the product was purchased from DeWalt or a DeWalt authorized seller, unless otherwise prohibited by law. DeWalt reserves the right to reject warranty claims for products purchased from unauthorized sellers, including unauthorized internet sites."
How to ensure you're buying from a DeWalt authorized seller
DeWalt's authorized retailer list is the most reliable way to find a legitimate DeWalt seller, but you don't necessarily have to pull it up every time you're looking for tools on Amazon. It's okay to directly search for DeWalt products using Amazon's search function as long as you verify the product listings are legitimate before buying.
You can filter your search results to show only official Amazon listings by selecting Amazon.com from the "Seller" list on the left side of the search results page. By doing this, you'll ensure you're only presented with DeWalt products sold and shipped by Amazon. As well, when you click on a product listing, you can look for the "Visit the DEWALT Store" link just below the product title to verify it's an official DeWalt listing.
If you find a DeWalt product sold by an unauthorized seller on Amazon, you should consider carefully whether any discounts offered make it worth the risk. If the product you receive is defective or stops working prematurely, DeWalt won't replace it under warranty, and the third-party seller may not offer refunds.
