Waitrose has recalled chocolate-chip brioche rolls over concerns they may contain pieces of metal and hard plastic.
The packets of eight chocolate-chip brioche rolls are “unsafe to eat”, according to an alert issued by the Food Standards Agency.
The products affected can be identified by the batch code B26177 as well as a best-before date of July 26. Notices of the alert will be on display in all Waitrose supermarkets selling the rolls.
The notice urges anyone who has bought the brioche rolls not to eat them and to return them to a Waitrose branch to claim a refund.
The batch code and best-before date can be found on the back of the pack.
In February, the French bakery brand Brioche Pasquier advised people who purchased six packs of its Pitch Chocolate and Hazelnut Brioches with a best-before date of March 4 to contact the manufacturer owing to “the potential presence of hard white plastic”.
Food products are recalled when there is a potential risk to safety.

At the end of December, Waitrose recalled two of its water products because of possible glass fragments contaminating them.
People were warned not to drink from some Waitrose No 1 Deeside Mineral Water and Waitrose No 1 Deeside Sparkling Water bottles.
Earlier in December, Tesco recalled aubergine katsu bao buns after the product was found to contain undeclared milk, putting people with dairy allergies at risk.
Meanwhile, the Bakewell Bakery withdrew its “shallow brandy” mince pies in the run-up to Christmas over fears they also contained milk, despite it not being on the label.
