Two South Florida lottery players, one in Miami, held Monday's jackpot tickets

Two South Florida lottery players, one in Miami, held Monday's jackpot tickets
Tuesday’s Fantasy 5 winners bought their tickets at a Miami supermarket and a Palm Beach County liquor store.

See where the tickets were bought.

Monday’s major money Florida Lottery draw game luck confined itself to South Florida, specifically a supermarket and a liquor store.

That luck didn’t include Monday’s Powerball drawing, jacking that jackpot up to $567 million for Wednesday. For those who like to aim for Everest, Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot will be worth about $707 million.

Monday’s midday Fantasy 5 drawing passed without a big winner. The evening drawing numbers - 11, 28, 29, 33, 36 - were chosen by a player at a North Miami-Dade Key Food, 8890 NW Seventh Ave., and the Quick Pick-producing machine at Liquor Land, 2675 S. Military Tr., in unincorporated Palm Beach County. Each ticket is worth $53,512.

These tickets must be cashed at one of the nine Florida Lottery district offices around the state. The Miami office is in Miami Lakes, 14621 Oak Ln., and can be reached at 305-364-3080 or [email protected]. What’s called the West Palm Beach office is actually in Palm Springs, 4360 Forest Hill Blvd. You can call that office at 561-640-6190 or email [email protected].

Both offices are open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments can be made, but aren’t required.

Winner takes…some. The Mega Millions jackpot has reached a historic high of $743 million after Tuesday night’s six-number draw failed to produce a match. Tuesday’s numbers were 25, 37, 59, 68, 70, and the gold Mega Ball was 10. Despite the impressive jackpot amount, if a winner matches the numbers in the next draw, slated for Friday, their take-home payout, after taxes and deductions, will be considerably less. The hypothetical winner will...

Gavin Newsom goes all in on tribal casino deal — and California cashes out empty-handed

Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed away California’s share of future tribal casino revenue in a new 25-year gaming compact with the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe — a move critics have blasted as a giveaway. The agreement, which was signed Monday, authorizes the tribe to operate up to two casinos with as many as 1,200 slot machines and other Las Vegas-style games on eligible trust land in San Bernardino County. Unlike the tribe’s previous gaming compact,...
