And the twist? The deal isn't at Amazon.

While there are a ton of great options for e-readers these days, basically no brands have Amazon's Kindle beat when it comes to affordability.

That holds especially true come sitewide sales at Amazon like Prime Day, as Kindles tend to go on sale for record low prices. While you may catch them on offer at other times in the year, generally the deals won't be quite as good.

However, there's always the chance that on a random Monday — say, like today, July 20 — another retailer will bring the heat. And as it happens, Best Buy has not one, but two Kindles down to their lowest prices ever. The Kindle Paperwhite is available for $124.99, knocking $35 off its $159.99 price, while the Kindle Paperwhite Signature is just $144.99, knocking $55 off its $199.99 price. At the time of writing, neither e-reader is on sale at Amazon.

In other words, if you regret not grabbing a Kindle during last month's Prime Day sale, this is your chance to soothe your regrets.

Mashable's resident e-reader expert and Lead Shopping Reporter Samantha Mangino has tested every single available Kindle, and determined the Kindle Paperwhite to be the best overall Kindle, while the Paperwhite Signature is the best upgraded version of the device. She also says the Kindle is the best e-reader she's ever tried, including testing from brands like Kobo, Boox, Xteink, and Durobo.

The standard Paperwhite has an incredible 12-week battery life, 16GB of storage, great Libby integration, is waterproof, and a light that automatically adjusts temperature. Mangino has owned the Paperwhite for two years, and says it works just as well as the day she opened the box. At $124.99, its just $15 more than the current price of the standard Kindle.

The Kindle Paperwhite Signature edition, on the other hand, ups the ante for readers. It has the same 12-week battery life of its non-Signature analogue, but double the storage at 32GB. It also has a seven-inch display like the regular Paperwhite, but features an auto-adjusting light, wireless charging, and maybe best of all, no ads on the lockscreen. At $144.99, it's cheaper than the Paperwhite is at full price, making this an excellent price to grab it at.
