It was another busy week around the NFL as the Aaron Donald rumors reached a new level, two notable contract extensions were handed out and the entire league gets set to begin training camp.
Here is what you should know around the league.
Will Aaron Donald come out of retirement?
The Los Angeles Rams already made a splash earlier in the offseason when they traded for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett. They may not be finished making moves yet.
Rumors have teased recently that it is only a matter of time until Donald comes out of retirement to rejoin a Rams team that he spent his entire career playing for until his final season in 2023.
With that said, a recent report stated that Donald "has been very happy in retirement," though it sounds like he "wants to be the best version of himself" and may not confirm his intentions for the upcoming season before Rams players report to training camp on Saturday.
Donald is a Super Bowl champion, three-time Defensive Player of the Year and a surefire lock to make the Hall of Fame. It remains uncertain if he is actually going to return to the field, but if he does, Donald is just 35 years old and would only make this Rams team even more of a Super Bowl favorite before the season begins.
Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins extend key players
The Packers already signed wide receivers Jayden Reed (three years, $50.25M) and Christian Watson (four years, $92M) to ensure that quarterback Jordan Love still had two of his favorite targets at his disposal.
They went to the defensive side of the ball on Monday when they signed 2022 first-round pick Devonte Wyatt to a three-year, $57M extension. Wyatt has 16 sacks in his career with the Packers and had four sacks in just 10 games last season, but a fractured fibula and torn ankle ligament in his left leg make this a risky gamble.
Speaking of the Packers, their former defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is now the head coach of the Dolphins, who made sure to lock up All-Pro linebacker Jordyn Brooks on Tuesday with a three-year deal worth up to $51.3M.
The 28-year-old Brooks becomes the sixth-highest-paid LB in the league after earning All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors last season. Re-signing Brooks was all part of the Dolphins' offseason plan to keep its key players around, and it was something they could not ignore based on his performance so far.
Training camp picks up
Over the course of the next week, rookies and veterans will begin reporting to training camps across the country as the 2026 season rapidly approaches.
The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers got things started last week, but the rest of the league will take its turn over the next week as teams look ahead to the preseason and who will comprise their 53-man rosters.
