Top of the Hyatt, the 40th-floor penthouse cocktail bar at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego, officially reopened last week after a multimillion-dollar redesign that includes a new upscale interior and new drink and food menus.
The new interior by Parker Torres Design features curved velvet banquette seating, marble-topped tables and a new bar, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking San Diego Bay.
Alongside his menu of five classic cocktails, Assistant Director of Food & Beverage Mark Watten Jr. has unveiled the new Volume Two collection of 10 new signature drinks. The new lineup was inspired by the flavors of Asia, with ingredients that include matcha, sake, pandan, mango, coconut, yuzu and other citrus fruits. Some of the new cocktails are the Meet Your Matcha, Not What You’re Yuzu and Kung Fu Pandan. Top of the Hyatt has also expanded its new and old world wines-by-the-glass selections.
Top of the Hyatt’s current Asian-inspired food menu, which is served from 4:30-9:30 p.m. daily, features sushi, nigiri and sashimi, as well as desserts that include strawberry matcha cheesecake, warm butter mochi with mango compote and toasted coconut and a chocolate orange tart.
Top of the Hyatt hours are 4 to 11 p.m. daily for ages 21 and up only. 1 Market Place, San Diego. 619-232-1234, topofthehyatt.com.
