Niall Harbison created a canine retirement village for senior street dogs earlier this year through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo. One resident named Birdie just hit a major milestone and Harbison decided to celebrate in style.
Birdie is a senior dog who lived on the streets for most of her life, but now she knows she has a forever home thanks to Harbison and his team.
In the Instagram video from @wearehappydoggo, the festivities were in full swing at Happy Doggo Land. Harbison and his team spared no expense to make sure Birdie felt special and loved on her "gotcha" day.
"For years, Birdie survived on the streets, completely invisible," the on-screen text explained. "But today, we celebrated one whole year of her being safe, loved, and spoiled."
Streamers, balloons, party hats, and other decorations were all a part of the huge celebration. Plenty of special food, her human pals and four-legged friends, and, of course, Pup Cups, were all a part of the extravaganza. Despite her older age, Birdie is young at heart and loved the shindig.
"She is a very, very old street dog with the frosty face and tired joints, but underneath all of that, she has the heart of a puppy," the caption shared. "There were Pup Cups, a special dinner, and she was surrounded by her favorite people and dog friends."
Birdie's Best Gift Is Having a Home
The video showed Birdie strolling back to her "condo" at the Golden Ticket Retirement Village. You could see the joy and security she felt in every step she took, knowing she had a true forever family at Happy Doggo.
"As soon as the party was over, Birdie took off in a happy trot straight back to her cozy retirement village, because for the first time in her long life, she finally has a home," the caption noted, concluding with, "Happy 1st gotcha day, sweet Birdie. We love you."

Harbison launched Happy Doggo in 2021. In addition to the sterilization and daily feeding of thousands of street dogs, he recently opened a full-service medical clinic in honor of his beloved Golden Retriever, Tina, and a retirement village for senior dogs.
