Major indexes locked in a day of gains Tuesday following three days of losses, even as bond yields rose. Investors awaited earnings from AlphabetGOOGL and sent Micron TechnologyMU and SandiskSNDK surging.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite charged 1.3% higher, with attention set to turn to Alphabet's earnings late Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.7%, and the S&P 500 picked up 0.9%. The benchmark for the stock market found support at its 50-day moving average on Tuesday and stemmed a three-day fall. The small-cap Russell 2000 index advanced 1.5%.
The stock market held to higher ground even as U.S. Trade Rep. Jamieson Greer, speaking on CNBC, indicated that more tariffs on U.S. imports may land soon.
The tech rally also gathered steam after a Nikkei Asia report that Taiwan SemiconductorTSM plans to increase prices by 10% in 2027. That pushed the stock higher by nearly 6%.
Elsewhere, West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures tacked on more than 2% to trade near $85 per barrel. The 10-year Treasury yield rose 2 basis points to 4.63% – a two-month high. Bitcoin rose near $66,400.
Volume was lower on the New York Stock Exchange and higher on the Nasdaq. Breadth was positive, with advancers outnumbering decliners on both exchanges — by nearly 5-to-3 on the Nasdaq and by less than 5-to-4 on the NYSE.
In stocks, Micron gained more than 12% and retook its 50-day moving average. Sandisk vaulted more than 14%.

Danaher Craters On Weak Outlook, Soft Segment Sales
Medical researcher Danaher swung 10% lower despite an earnings and sales beat for the second quarter. Shares sliced through their 50-day moving average in high volume with analysts flagging soft bioprocessing sales.
Full-year sales growth outlook also disappointed with the company knocking it down to 4% at the top end, down from 6% earlier.
The company announced second-quarter earnings of $1.94 per share, topping views by 11 cents. Revenue of $6.3 billion also beat estimates.

SpaceX Rises, Sets Earnings Date
SpaceX stock shot up 6%, on track to snap a seven-session losing streak. On Monday, the spacecraft company canceled a rocket flight and rescheduled it for July 23. Meanwhile, short bets against SpaceX stock have risen to 32%, according to CNBC, citing data from analytics firm S3 Partners. Short bets have grown as the stock price has lost ground. Last week, Chief Executive Elon Musk on X cautioned short sellers betting against the stock.
The company's second-quarter earnings are due on Aug. 4.

Nebius Soars On Nvidia Stake
Nebius shot up more than 15% after artificial intelligence chip behemoth Nvidia disclosed a 9% stake in the neocloud company, according to a regulatory filing. Shares were headed for their third straight daily win.
Nebius stock more than doubled year to date heading into Tuesday. But shares remained below their 50-day moving average.

Northrop Grumman Falls Despite Earnings Beat
Shares of Northrop GrummanNOC lost more than 2% Tuesday, though the aerospace and defense company delivered an earnings beat for the second quarter. Earnings of $7.68 per share easily exceeded analysts' target of $6.82. Revenue of $10.9 billion edged past views of $10.8 billion.
The company raised its full-year earnings guidance to $28.85 per share at the midpoint, up from $27.65, also at the midpoint.
Operating profit in its missile business was dented by lower adjustments for estimated vs. actual costs for long-term projects, Barron's noted, citing the company's data.
Shares fell further below their 50-day moving average – an area of resistance since March.

Homebuilder Stock Extends Losses
Shares of D.R. HortonDHI slipped slightly despite an earnings beat for the third quarter. Slowing home sales caused the company to lower its full-year revenue outlook from $35 billion to $33 billion.
The homebuilder announced profits of $3.20 a share, above Wall Street's estimates of $2.97 a share. Sales of $9.2 billion also topped estimates of $9.1 billion, though sales growth was flat from the prior year.
The stock triggered the 7% sell rule recently and extended a two-day slide on Tuesday.

Schwab Tries To Break Out On Earnings
Shares of Charles Schwab briefly ventured into a buy zone Tuesday before retreating. The stock was turned away from a buy point of 103.97 of a cup-with-handle base. Shares wavered, but ticked higher on huge volume in recent action.
The finance and brokerage icon reported earnings of $1.62 a share on $7 billion in second-quarter sales. Both came in above analyst estimates for $1.56 in earnings and sales of $6.9 billion.

Nasdaq-100 Winners, Losers: Teradyne, Western Digital, Workday, Airbnb
Among the Nasdaq-100 stocks, TeradyneTER and Western DigitalWDC surged roughly 8% apiece, making them some of the best performers just after the market open.

Meanwhile, WorkdayWDAY and AirbnbABNB sold off 2% and 0.4%, respectively, in morning action.

Dow Jones Movers: Caterpillar, Nvidia, Salesforce
Inside the Dow industrials, CaterpillarCAT and Goldman SachsGS rallied nearly 2% and close to 1%, respectively, in premarket trading. Also, NvidiaNVDA moved up more than 1% as it continued to fight to retake its key 50-day moving average.
On the downside, SalesforceCRM and MicrosoftMSFT declined nearly 4% and 1%, respectively, in early morning action.

Marvell, Micron Stock, Sandisk Continue To Rebound
Marvell Technology stock rallied 6% premarket Tuesday. The AI infrastructure chipmaker is on pace to extend a winning streak to three sessions and move further off last week's lows.
Memory chip stock Micron Technology jumped 6.5%, looking to add to Monday's 1.9% rebound, while rival Sandisk's shares leaped 8% in premarket trading.
All three chip stocks remain below their 50-day lines following heavy losses in recent weeks.

GM Stock Rallies On Earnings
General MotorsGM rallied 2% premarket Tuesday after the automaker beat Wall Street's estimates for the second quarter and raised its full-year outlook.
Early Tuesday, General Motors said it earned an adjusted $3.57 per share on revenue of $48.03 billion due to strong demand for trucks and SUVs.

Defense contractor Northrop lost nearly 3%, as Novartis rallied close to 3%. Finally, Steel Dynamics moved down more than 1% premarket Tuesday.
