Steam really has become the best place to go for PC gamers looking to while away a few hours, and much of that comes down to the impeccable management of their storefront. As well as obviously having the biggest range of the lot, they also regularly run events that give players the chance to get involved in the fun without spending as much money as they otherwise would have.
The scale they operate at obviously allows them to also have better sales than anyone else, and you can usually pick up a deal on that game you've been eyeing up, if you're patient enough to wait for a discount. Now, the latest of those is live, and it's absolutely one for the transport-obsessed masses.
Over on the official Steam storefront, you should be able to find the breakdown for Steam Train Fest, the latest event in their ongoing series of sales. Running until July 27, the company has also dropped a huge raft of demos for players to try out, allowing them to make an informed purchase ahead of time.
As you might expect, the game available are very heavy on their emphasis for transport, but there is a much broader range than you might otherwise expect from the description. Action roguelikeEndless Rails leads the way on that front, tasking players with protecting their transportation from monsters and other horrible creatures.
From the more traditional viewpoint, there are plenty of train simulations available as well, with games like Mashinky and Rails & Rivals tasking players with setting up their own rail empires. There's even a deckbuilder in the form of Break Siege, an Early Access title that asks players to defend themselves in real-time battles, all from their own train.
Train Valley is also available as a demo, and it takes a much more simplistic approach, asking players to simply avoid trains crashing into one another, and manage the railways efficiently. In total, there are more than 40 demos available as part of the event, so there's likely at least one release that should take your fancy.
If this one isn't really for you in terms of what it offers, it won't be long before it all refreshes and Steam places an entirely different genre or category of games on sale. Keep an eye out over the next few weeks for more on that, and make sure to check Train Fest out before it goes away on July 27.
