Standard Nuclear (STDN) said Wednesday that construction of its two new advanced nuclear fuel production facilities in Tennessee and Idaho is substantially complete, advancing toward commissioning, regulatory approval, and initiating production.

The two new identical facilities, which will be capable of collectively adding up to 5 metric tons/year of additional TRISO nuclear fuel production capacity once fully scaled, have received preliminary documented safety analyses approval from the U.S. Department of Energy, the company said.

Standard Nuclear (STDN) operates an existing facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, which currently produces TRISO nuclear fuel with the ability to produce up to 0.5 metric tons/year of uranium.

The company said it also continues to build out another fuel line as a part of its joint venture with Framatome, Inc., leveraging the latter's existing NRC license, in Washington state.
