1. Gotham FC win Queens Classic and comeback against Seattle Reign
An orange sky to match the colors of Citi field worked in Gotham FC’s favor as all they needed was one banger of a goal by Rose Lavelle to win the match. Then, on Saturday Gotham FC ended their match against the Seattle reign with a thrilling three goals after the 80th minute to comeback from down two goals. There were many exciting moments in those final minutes, but the game-winner by Lavelle in stoppage time with Sam Kerr’s first assist in her return was notable.
2. Denver Summit win 2-1 in Lindsey Heaps debut
Lindsey Heaps has had quite a year winning the domestic championship with Lyon and featuring in the Champion’s Legue final and has now made her debut for her hometown club, Denver Summit FC, in front of a sold-out crowd of 12,372. The former captain of the squad Janine Sonis got the equalizing goal in the first minute of stoppage time after initially conceding a penalty to the Thorns.
Heaps played the full got the assist on Natalie Means’ first professional goal, though Means’ did most of the work entering the box from the right side and shooting it over the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.
3. Washington Spirit head to top of the table with win against Boston Legacy
The Washington Spirit had a tough week with two matches starting with the Queens Classic with poor air conditions that made Citi Field look like a post-apocalyptic movie. Still they managed to persevere after going scoring twice within six minutes to earn the victory against the Boston Legacy. Tara Rudd scored the first in the 25th minute, then Trinity Rodman scored another in the 31st. The win sent the Spirit to the top of the table at their official halfway mark in the season.
4. Karlie Lema scores brace for Bay FC in two minutes in largest victory in club history
Bay FC won by the largest margin of victory in club history with their 3-0 win against the North Carolina Courage at home. Bay area native and Cal graduate, Karlie Lema, scored a brace within two minutes after the Courage backline gave up two balls over their heads to Bay FC. The first one went through the middle of the pitch for Lema, then another only two minutes later for Alex Pfeiffer who passed the ball off to Lema to make it 2-0.
5. Angel City FC win third straight and Maiara Niehues scores fifth straight.
Angel City FC have put themselves squarely back in the race for a playoff spot with their third-straight victory since returning from the midseason break. The attack is beginning to truly shine, and has been a difficult task for the rest of the league. Mairara Niehues has been an important part of that success as the Brazilian midfielder has now scored her fifth goal in five straight games. The goal against Chicago was only a penalty, but still needed to take the three points on the road.
6. Croix Bethune helps Current take the lead in the second half
The Kansas City Current looked like they may suffer through their first loss of the season after a tight game controlled by the Wave in the first half. However, in the second half the entire Current squad found their footing and were dangerous on the attacking end. Croix Bethune scored a full volley after their press took advantage of a defensive mistake, then sent Temwa Chawinga running at the Wave backline to make it 2-1.
7. San Diego Wave pull off late draw in 90th minute against KC Current
The Current initially looked unstoppable to start the second half, but after they cooled off the Wave found their offensive identity once again and managed to pull off another late goal. The Wave have now scored eight goals after the 75th minute thus far in 2026. Trinity Byars was the one who finished the chance with a tap in after a shot by Kristen McNabb was only slowed down by the goalkeeper.
8. Narumi Miura floats a goal in from outside the box for lone goal against Orlando Pride
Narumi Miura scored a banger from outside the penalty area that Orlando’s defense coudl do very little about. After one move to get some space Narumi sent a shot that floated over Anna Moorhouse who was just off her line to make it 1-0. The lone goal was all they needed and keeps them solidly in a playoff position at their midway mark in the season.
9. Houston Dash steal victory from Racing Louisville with 1-1 draw
Only season after making the NWSL playoffs, Racing Louisville are having a horrid 2026. On the bright side Louisville broke a five-match losing streak with the 1-1 draw against the Houston Dash, but gave up the victory in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Kat Rader is continuing to make her case for NWSL rookie of the year as she scored her sixth goal of the season putting away a shot with her left foot two minutes before the end of the match.
