Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha slammed socialists for putting on an act of self-righteousness and said their role in the Michigan Senate race is a "national test lab.”

“The [Democratic Socialists of America], if they can win in these deep blue cities, and they're very brazen about what they want to do to the country, then if they win in Michigan, then they'll say, ‘OK, this is a national brand,” Concha said on Fox Business’s Kudlow Tuesday.

Socialist Abdul el Sayed is running in the Democratic primary against Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI). The Republican nominee is former Rep. Mike Rogers.

Stevens is more mainstream and has more backing from establishment Democrats. El Sayed is backed by prominent progressives and has a much more critical stance on U.S. policy toward Israel.

Concha questioned whether a socialist candidate would even win in Michigan, considering that the last three presidential elections there were “razor close.”

Concha said if Michigan does elect el Sayed, it paves the way for the party to put forward Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) as its nominee for the 2028 election, "because now this is what Americans want.”

Concha said socialists want to “blow up the Senate” and get rid of the president.

DSA's new platform, called "Workers Deserve More," includes eliminating the U.S. Senate, granting amnesty for all immigrants, defunding the Department of War, and replacing the Electoral College with a national popular vote for president.

“If they can win in Michigan, watch out, because this thing is very much for real and very much will be a big part of the 2028 conversation,” Concha said.

Concha also highlighted part of the socialist agenda about housing for all. They are “seizing private property to take from the rich to give to those who may not have earned it,” Concha said.

“Social housing must expropriate property from capitalists and deliver it to the working class, through which it may be sustained and rejuvenated. Capitalism requires the private ownership of land, upon which the very possibility of surplus value extraction is based,” according to a statement on social housing from DSA.

The statement also said that social housing only works by challenging this “capitalist mode of production.”

“The more you peel off the onion, the more rancid it is,” Concha said.

Concha pointed out that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has become a leading voice for the DSA in reducing economic inequality and increasing taxes on the wealthy. However, Sanders continually uses private jets to travel to events.

“The hypocrisy is so thick and so pure you could snort it,” Concha said.

Black Dems are right about the DSA threat — but they helped create it

Queens Borough President Donovan Richards is voicing the fury of the black political establishment, and of much of the black community, when he slams Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s comrades in the Democratic Socialists of America — but what he won’t admit is how much he’s enabled these extremists. In a couple of terse social media posts, Richards compared the DSA to white supremacists and 1960s-era white liberals who “pretend” to support black civil...
